Well, I have started several threads in which I bashed Rossi. For the change I will leave the guy alone. I read an interesting article about Kawasaki. According to Burgess, Kawasaki is not far away from the other top teams and the only thing they need to win is a top rider. You can read his comments here: http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/59081

It would be nice to see the kawasaki get nice results. It would made the championship only more exciting. I hope the top rider arrives as soon as possible. Maybe Dovisioso ?

For sure. I can't see dePuniet staying on next year and Jaque has been dissapointing. kawasaki have to write a couple of big cheques next year to move things along. No point in having a great bike without a great rider.

I saw this article, it amused me because recently when i said the Kawassaki was pretty good and the Honda did look like it was the worst bike out there people acted like i was insane. But of course this is nothing but great news, however it makes me wish more that Gibernau had stayed to ride OJ's bike.

I would expect Dovi and Honda to remain loyal to each other in the future, and i would suggest having DePuniet as their young talent that perhaps they should be looking to poach a more experienced rider from elsewhere (hopper for example).

Gibernau would have been a far better choice than Jaque for that bike but I don't think he was in the market no matter what the wages were. He was retiring and he wasn't being talked out of it. It's a shame, if anybody should've had another couple of seasons left in him, it was Sete. Could you ever see him make a low key comeback with team green? Who would you rather sign? Gibernau, Hodgson, Checa or even Nakano? Who do you know can win GP's?

Like you said, Gibernau was quiting and he wouldn't be talked out of it. Anyone in that state of mind wouldn't be fit to race anyway, since its the desire to win that drives these guys to do what they do. But from your list i would hire the riders in this order............Checa, Nakano, Gibernau, save my money, Hodgson

I know it's hypothetical but I'd think Gibernau would be worth a shot if his heart was in it. He was the only guy who could take it to Rossi when Rossi was at his most dominant and derserves no small amount of credit for that. Tom you got me thinking more about the prospect of sete 'doing a Biaggi' than who I'd sign for kawasaki, Checa only maybe but Shinya is way off the boil and I don't rate Hodgson any higher. Who'd be on your list?

I would take a young talented rider like Lorenzo, Dovisioso or Bautista.

i agree, hodgson would not be top of my list if i were kawasaki, mabe sete is getting bored with retirement now and we may see him back on oj's bike.

WTF!?!...I actually agree with T.E.??!!??

no wonder it's raining here!

yes Kawi need to boot the crap ryders they have.. NOW.

start fresh.

This is fantastic news for moto gp, the more competitive bike there are, the more competitive riders there will be which means more competition and more entertainment.

Quite a few up and coming riders in 250. Personally I like Dovi (who likely won't quit Honda) and De Angelis. Lorenzo is a great rider but I doubt Kawa will have the clout to lure him. And we've ample proof 250 riders can deliver some goods even from their first season in premier class.
Wish people would stop whining about Sete. He was a great rider who could regularly take it to The Doctor but let's face it his last season was a disaster. Actually he was a disaster that happened to other people and his shoulder is now so clapped out that a little shove from my 3 year old nephew would probably result in him needing another plate. Not the kind of body parts you want inside you when doing 200mph. Guy made the choice that felt right for him. Married his babe and is now living the life. Good on him.

Great read TE. I am guilty of joking about Kawasaki because I thought they were crap, actually still do, but to a lesser degree. But this year they have made major improvements. I'm not so sure De Puniet is that bad of a rider. I think he is better than we get to see because Kawasaki isn't that great. I like the way the bike looks, especially those brilliant green rims. Randy showed us a moment at Le Mans that he has talent. Plus he is young and he can still learn. I wouldn't want to see him replaced. But the 250 champ will be looking for a ride soon too.

Unfortunately I think Capirossi will probably retire and that will leave another seat open. So we may see some musical chairs at the end of the season. As far as Hopkins, damn, that's a hard call. I mean, what if Suzuki finally produces a bike that is worthy of contending and Hopkins makes a jump to what I think is an inferior bike already to Kawasaki? .... that would make me and probably him, go crazy (but he would manage I guess with all that money and that fine girlfriend, eh?) I don't know who will get the Kawasaki ride, its a tuff call. Either way, I don't think a championship is in the cards the next couple of years, not yet.

I think Burgess might be thinking Rossi might want to make the move to Kawasaki, wouldn't that be crazy?!?

(Hey, I hope you don't stop your Rossi bashing, that was fun to see all his fans exploding!

haha, just joking people, put your ignore buttons away) Ooops, probably not a good joke, like Locks says, I'll get my coat.

No Frost, Step nephew.

Nicky has an HRC contract for next year as well. I expect his and Hondas performance to increase this year, and even if things don't get much better i would be very shocked if the contract was abandoned by either party, bu i guess we will see.

First of all, whats with all the buzz around Kawasaki right now? Hopkins in negotiations with them, Burgess talking about how they've improved. I dunno...last time I looked they were still finishing at the back of the pack every time. I'm not sure what the fuss is over.

I've been wondering if Shinya might not be more competitive this season if he had stayed with Kawasaki! I was initially excited to hear that he was moving to a "superior" Honda, but seeing Honda's performance so far I think he actually ended up taking a step down.

As far as Kawi...get RID of Jaque, he's done. RDP I'm not so sure. He's had some flashes of solid riding but he's also had some not-so-great performances as well. I'd ideally like to see a top-tier rider and RDP next season, then after Kawasaki have proved themselves, get 2 top tier riders and go for it!

I can't see Nicky moving. He loves Honda and always says that its where he wants to be. His brothers/family do have a good relationship with Kawi however.

The seat people are gonna be clamoring for is the Ducati seat! However, that isn't even for sure at this point. Capirossi recently said "Now I'm asking for some help and I won't quit racing until I get back to winning ways." on Autosport. It might be more of a "forced" retirement for him though if he doesn't shape up soon.

Well that was a bit long-winded...sorry!
