Not sure if you all have seen this news or realized this in the morning practice sessions, but there is a woman racing in Moto 2. Filling in for Simone. Her name is Elena Rossel and competes in the CEV Super Stock class where she holds her own. She has come up through the Bankia racing system, Aspar overlooks this group. She didn't have a real good day today, wrecked a couple times in the morning rainy practice. I'm sure nerves, new track, conditions and new bike all played a part... Hope the rest of the weekend goes better. Wonder if she'll have a guy in tights holding her umbrella at the starting grid!

tough gig. hopefully she goes well, but me thinks she'll have a very hard time not to get lapped, maybe more than once

I think she'll hold her own. At least won't be last! She's been racing in the highly competitive CEV, so she's not your weekend track day warrior. Hope it's more that a publicity stunt!

What makes you say this? Its not the first time a girl has raced in the second tier class.

akeizm- Again, as said many times, find a big Australian business and have them sponsor a team and then you can have any Australian rider they want. Until then, thank the Spanish sponsors for funding a huge amount of 125, Moto 2 and GP. A Spanish rider riding for a Spanish sponsored team which is owned by a Spanish World Champ, Aspar, makes perfect sense. I suggest you to send a letter to Mr. Doohan suggesting he start a team. Until that happens this is what it is. Don't like it, don't watch.

Not a great place to go down - I remember Rossi's nasty spill there in 2006 which mangled his wrist.

yeah its a super fast corner, very spectacular to see how amazingly fast they go there. she looked dazed after her crash, had to be put on a stretcher, dont think she started the next day in the race. she looked like a tumbler when she went off, it was a very nasty highsider.

Apparently she was ok but they couldn't repair the bike in time for her to start the race. A shame really

word is she'll be out again in Motorland Aragon for another try on the Moto 2. She'll be doing some practice from now to the race on the Moto 2 under the Aspar school, as Assen was her first real contact with the bike. She is definitely the fastest woman around!
