Now that Melandri has gone from Gresini Honda has that left the door open for JT to take the seat?

Phil

I rekon that's a fair bet.

He could do a lot worse as far as moto gp rides go but naturally - i'd rather see him sat on a full factory bike (i just can't see it happening)

JT is going to Tech 3 Yam.

says who ?

Nope no factory ride. Kwaka and Suzuki say there's no time for a "learning year" Ducati and Honda are full and Yamaha (FIAT) are as good as done and dusted

Personally, I think JT needs to win the WSB title this year to earn a ride in MotoGP. I know he's won it before, but it's just a feeling I get that without a second he'll always miss out. Too many 250cc riders to take into consideration now the MotoGP bikes handle a lot more like the minor classes, compared to the power mad 990s being much closer linked to the WSB boys.

This logic pretty much rules out all of the AMA 'Stars' and BSB regulars for any GP rides...so no Duhamel, Spies, RL Hayden, Mladin, Rea, Lavilla or Kiyonari ever moving to GPs...but your probably right given the way this past weekend panned out for the Superbike guys....oh yeah well done CV!

It's not confirmed but Moody and Ryder talked about this before the race and said that Tech 3 with Michelins are going to offer him a ride and Ten Kate are going to offer him a brand new Fireblade for next year with a MotoGP option the year after. I'm sure they said Toseland had to make a decision by Brands Hatch.
