The Tech 3 Yamaha MotoGP team has made it clear they want the WSB series leader for next year, and has the lure of a works Yamaha M1 on Michelins as its main draw and – most likely – Colin Edwards as team- mate. MCN understands the Dunlop sponsorship deal the team currently has as its primary source of funding will not be renewed, and the team will swap to Michelin.
In response, Honda is understood to have put together an unprecedented package to keep Toseland in WSB for another year

He wont get the same bike as Rossi, maybe the same tyres as Michelin have less bikes to deal with, but I doubt even they would be the same. Still it's a pretty good offer. If the honda 'works' ride for 09 turns out to be what Melandri 07 deal was, he's better off staying in Superbikes.

It's a pretty good deal without all the pressure of being directly on the factory team. He should be able to hang with Edwards by mid year.

Guess that means Lorenzo and Vale will share a garage. Cool.

'According to MCN' aka Toseland .... Suckers... According to them he was signed by Suzuki as soon as Hopper left .. Oh and the self righteous WSBK Champ wont go to GP for anything less than a factory ride... Pffft, he's never gonna be in GP's...

Ant, would you care to place a bet on that? I bet you he will be in GP's next year. If you lose, you have to write "James Toseland is better than Anthony West" in your signature for two races afterwards. If I lose, you choose what I have to write. Deal?

If Toseland and West are both in GP's next year, I can guarantee Ant will beat him on a regular basis, Toseland is overrated something SHOCKING.. its simple, he wont cut it on competetive machinery, let alone with a satellite team.. hes just another pom whos delusions of granduer are much greater than his abilities

Not heard anyting about Pedrosa yet but i would be fairly sure he is staying. I have also heard that Dovi is leaving Honda for Dantin Ducati, which is interesting!

Yeah, if he is serious about motogp he should take what he can get. If he stays in superbikes much longer he may as well never come over.

I wouldn't be willing to Guarantee anythingm, he may take to it better than you (or I) think he will. I also wouldn't say he was that overrated, he is good for sure (but i think CV is better) and i think us Poms are just very keen to talk about him because we finally have someone to get excited about.

I think if i was Honda i would give Johnny Rea a motogp ride over JT, but JT should definitely be looking to give it a shot with or without Honda.

REA may go to ROBERTS (put him in the shop window) if they can keep Honda engines

I would want them to prove they could build a better chassis to be honest, but maybe Honda will give them the instructions again!

KR have said they have a sponsor lined up willing to pay for two bikes so Kenny has put in the bid for Rea and making pleas to Honda to get the powerplants. I've also read Ducati may be interested in powering the team.

With an influx of money, a solid motor and the factory KR have, I think they could return to 2006 form.

I am convinced that can't happen without help with chassis development, and i doubt they will get Honda data so early in the 212V development.

I've heard this as well...in my view this would be a huge mistake in his very young and promising career.

He'd be better off begging Honda for a factory 250 ride...

Not worth it!! They are getting progressively less interested in the smaller classes until they go 4 stroke.

The new KR chassis is built and ready for Laguna. Hopefully it will improve and Kurtis can have a respectful result. His attitude has sure chaneged for the better.

Back to topic at hand. Either option seems to 'guarantee' a works bike. Melandri doesn't get the same stuff as the Repsol boys and a lot of people believe that Edwards is getting the trick Rossi stuff far further down the line than Rossi is. So either way he's not going to be on equal machinery as the factory boys. And even if, by some miracle, he does get the factory bits, he will still have to suffer with a satellite team. No factory techs in his garage.

Six of one, half a dozen of the other. Yamaha offers him an immediate in, Honda asks him to wait a year but will heavily compensate. Given he has assurances that Yamaha will secure funding and offer support to to the Tech 3 team, I think JT will end up with Yamaha unless Honda change their offer.

The problem is deciding if a Honda is worht waiting for when he could probably get in and get experience, and if he is good enough Honda will have him back by the time he could hope to contend seriously. The flip side of that is that (in my opinion) Yamaha are a pretty rubbish factory, and the bike is only doing well because of the JB/Rossi development. As soon as they retire, i would expect the Yamaha to be outclassed ina matter of weeks.

Pot, Kettle, Black buddy.

Atleast JT has achieved something in his career, unlike a certain guy who only wins against WEAK WSS opponents.

JT is overrated. Rea should be chosen over JT for a GP ride. I'm willing to bet that JT won't even win the championship this year...
