the answer to this is quite simple its yes. When Valentino joined the elite class in his first season he came a comfortable second. In the following season he won numerous tiles in a row on the Repsol ,he said it was far to easy if he had stayed there he would for sure won many more titles.I dont see Marquez doing this because he knows hes got the best bike he is a Repsol robot like pedrosa, who by the way has never done anything in Moto GP what is he doing on a moto gp bike.rossi is the GOAT no one gets more bums on seats than him. Also Rossi raced with some of the all time greats when there were more bikes more competition. In 2006 he gave the title away and stoner had a very very fast bike following year, but rossi doesnt make excuses .

Apart from that his tyres were poor, his bike wasn't as fast, Toni Elias raced him too hard etc.

Doohan was my personal favourite, 5 straight titles with a practically useless leg and on bikes that were a lot harder to ride.
