Stoner says: "I don't know if I'll come back into motor racing or not.

There are a few business opportunities I've been looking at for the past

few years. We've decided to step away for four to six months then think

about the future..."

The door has been left open, the timeline is perfect for a GP return in 2015. He could have his choice of Pedrosa's RCV, or Rossi's M1. Wouldnt that be rich if Stoner's coup de grace in the fued with Rossi was to take his seat and force him into retirement. The ultimate .... YOU

if he is ever to return, he should do so with some 'positive' motivation, not with same frust-laden negativity that drove him out of it.

If he comes back, I'd guess it would be to take over Dani's RCV, since he still works for Honda. It would be awesome to see him on an M1, though. I wonder how Rossi would react to Casey out-performing him on both the Ducati and the Yamaha?

Can you imagine the the war that would erupt between Casey and Marc's sides of the garage . Damn that alone makes me want this to happen. I do miss casey, he sure bought emotion and drama to the otherwise quite boring sport.

I think the war between the camps would be incredible, and it would spill over to the track, where their bonkers riding styles would lead to some incredible dogfights. Now throw Lorenzo into the mix, with all three riders pushing each other to levels previously unseen in GP...

Dammit, this needs to happen. Come back, Casey!

I reckon he will be back (fingers crossed) when il Clowno retires (toes crossed)

I can hear CS crying about an MM punt move on him then promptly retiring like a ..... again.

Sample podium interview:

Stoner: Mark is a little out of control, he needs to calm down, that was dangerous, especially when we almost made contact going into the corner.

Marquez: For me it was very fun, that is racing.

Big Jorge

Stoner on the M1 vs Jorge would be beyond epic.

I don't think Stoner would be slow on any bike you put under him but i don't think he would be a threat to Lorenzo on that M1. I just don't think in it's present morph it would suit his style to the degree it suits Lorenzo's.  Put him on the proddy Honda and he gets to the time gap insider stated from his test times would be something to see. A repeat of 2007 on that bike would make a fan out of me and give a few on the grid a real complex lol.

Haha, if Stoner somehow repeated 2007 on the proddy, we'd have to stop jokingly referring to him as an alien and start scanning the skies for the mothership.

Don't get to excited ............ the quote says motor racing, not motorcycle.

Stoner's last fillip into the racing scene was the V8 support class in Australia and he did show some skill for a guy who basically had no experience on street circuits. Plus, the chances are that the question was asked whilst in attendance at the V8 finale in Homebush, Sydney this weekend

Stone has always stated he is done with MotoGP, but when he decided to have 2014 away from the cars he said 'a year off'.

Motorcycle racing is a motor racing event is it not?

Yep, it certainly is but in general chatter amongst all I know within Oz, motor racing = 4 wheels, bike racing = 2 and 3 wheels (sidecars). Stoner himself has also distinguished between GP's and motor racing a number of times in various interviews where he distinctly says GP or MotoGP.

As I said, I suspect this was in response to a question he was asked whilst at the Homebush round of the Australian V8 Motor Racing series in which he is a current competitor and competing for the last time (as he is taking time off to 'focus on business interests' as he has stated previously). The whole quote is a recycle of what he has stated a few months back when he fist said he would stop racing the V8 feeder series.

It is my belief that is mainly why he retired, having won the second championshp I think he decided proving his detractors wrong was insufficient  reason to continue in a dangerous sport, particularly after becoming a father and  Simoncelli's death.
