Hmm TBH I don't think it could ever take over football. As much as i love MotoGP i love football just that little more
<

But one day it WILL take over F1

I've said it, my dad's said it, my nan's said it...

One day Moto GP WILL be more popular than Formula 1. They just need that little extra boost by the fans and advertising and that is happening right now and we're getting much more fans than ever before

PS Spacedeck what team do you play for? Just your local team or are you a stage higher than that? I still play for my local team.

Gay FL? I live in Florida USA lol.
And whats with people calling Pedrosa Mexican? I really don't understand it.

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (Racejumkie @ Oct 25 2006, 01:44 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}><div class='quotemain'>The world is big enough for there to be fans in all sports. I for one love baseball. I like almost all activities that include motors and speed. I particularly love anything on two wheels. In answer of the question, I think the guy that explained why the top sports are popular said it best; I think its a matter of accessability.

Motorcycle racing isn't for everybody, just us smart people.

Also, I can't find it anymore, but I read a thread where a guy said Rossi was "superhuman." Then that guy got a few negative responses from some other guy that got offended for comparing superhumans to a list of people like Mother Teresa, Lance Armstong, etc. He said something like it was wrong to compare these great people to mere racers. Well I just want to say; last I checked Teresa nor Lance won a MotoGP race, ever..so umh, they were'nt so great after all.

I believe it was Teresa that used to whoop doohan all over the track during the 90's FYI

I don't get it either, and whos Asimo aswell? could somebody please help me!

Mofo, ASIMO is a robot Honda made. It is small and it is supposed to simulate how a person walks to perfection.

It is just comparing ASIMO to Pedrosa, both being Honda's little toy that they get to manipulate and control.

At least in some people's opinions.

EDIT: Look at The Doc 79's signature.
Thats a picture of ASIMO with Dani's head and sponsors on it.

AFL stands for Australian Football League, which is Australian Rules Football. It's an extremely hard game to describe, I think only the Irish play a game that's somewhat similar. There tends to be a friendly rivalry over football codes in Austraila. Either you follw Rugby, or Aussie Rules. I grew up in the south, where AFL is by far more popular, and Katt's a Bogan (Read: Aussie version of a Redneck) from further north where they follow Rugby.

As for the Mexican bit, well, at the start of the season during testing, KRSR apparently made this comment about Pedrosa: "....! That little Mexican's fast!" and it kinda grew outta that.

AFL is only popular in melbourne and adelaide ... thats why all the teams are mainly from melbourne. collingwood, geelong etc. etc. with a few teams from other states ...

NRL on the other hand, has mainly NSW teams and a or two team from every other state except NT and tassie ... coz no-one wants anything to do with them anyway. and NSW being far superior to any other state has the BETTER game and the nations capital ...
<
man why am i even arguing this ... i dont even like NRL all that much.

and for the record ... i only really talk like a bogan and sit in the gutter dricking occasionally... so im a bogan with class.
<

<
Katt you should try venturing west once in a while. Why do you think theres only two teams in State of Origin? Because no one else gives a ....
<
AFL State of Orgin had teams for EVERY state. AFL outstrips Thugby in Western Austraila, South Australia, the Northen Territory, Victoria and Tasmania.
Queensland, NSW and the ACT are the minority.

meehhh im giving up, im not fighting a battle for a sport i dont like that much.

NASCAR is still crap. and so is Gay-FL in my books.

and the east coast is the shizit.

I love the east coast, there's actually people there. They've just got a bad taste in ball sports
<
I just think it's a bit weird comparing AFL and NASCAR. Like it or not, AFL is a game. A competition. A real sport. NASCAR is V8 cerial boxes going around in circles

Accessibility is a very good argument for why stick and ball sports are more popular and, perhaps, always will be. More people can relate to football (both versions) because they can actually play a form of it.

Another reason why, IMO, motorsports will always be under ball games is the perception that racing a motorvehicle requires no athletic ability and, thus, less skill. This lie is propogated by the sweaty, beefneck jocks who want to maintain the status quo (not accusing anyone here!).

I almost refrain from calling Moto GP a sport; The word "sports" makes me think of baseball, basketball, etc. Moto GP strikes me as a much more impressive spectacle than a "sport." Any kid can play with a ball, but it takes a brave man to wrestle a 240 hp GP bike!
