Can he keep it together for the rest of the season?

I guess I'll say 'yes'.

Its way too early to say any thing, we still got 14 races to go. He has only got 25 points buffer which can vanish after one bad result, obviously he is hot favourite now in Rossi absence though.

Maybe they will get Burgess onto Lorenzos case for a while since he has pretty much said they should not find a replacement for Rossi.?

Where you been Barry for last few weeks, are you still following motogp or not? Why you think Lorenzo needs Burgess, Lorenzo side is doing just fine, they mange to find better setup in last few races compare to Rossi anyway

If any body needs Burgess at the moment it has to be Casey, I don't know WTF they were thinking when the choose soft rear tyre in the race in 30C.

Not even 1/4 of the way through the season. Looks good for Lorenzo, but today shows it won't be a cake walk.

yes, it is his to lose and yes, i do believe he can keep it together to the end of the season. but as inam said, one DNF can put Pedrosa right up there with him.

Lorenzo seems to be the strongest rider out there at the moment....He was the main contender against Rossi this season and with Rossi gone, Lorenzo seems to be the obivious choice to win the title.

Now if he had this lead with 3 rounds to go....then yes it is his to loose, but only 4 races in....any rider can still win this thing. Hayden could win every race from here on out and Lorenzo, Pedrosa, Stoner...could all have some bad race results. We will need a few more races on the books until them.

It is Lorenzo's to lose, of cource i hope he doesn't lose it. but it's not yet done by any mean.

Especially now that Pedrosa can see his chances, he can/will do his best, and he isn't that far from Horhay.

on the other hand, now that Lorenzo knows the championship is his to lose, he will have more pressure on him, and maybe he become too careful, and that could give more chance to Pedrossa to go for a full attack.

So it remains to be seen how these next few gp's go, before we can have a better idea of Lorenzo's chances.

I felt he was a bit too careful today, not to make a big mistake or maybe he just didn't have his usual pace.

Although it pains me to say this, I have to agree that it is shaping up to be JLo's championship to lose. I love Dani to bits but I don't see him taking the fight to Horhey until the end. Horhey doesn't seem to have the 'fragility' of Dani, I reckon.

I think Lorenzo has less chance now than he did with Rossi in. Why?

Beating Rossi was his single focus. If he beat Rossi in any given race he knew he would probably be on the top 2 steps. Now who does he have to beat week in week out. One week it could be Dani the next it could be Casey or Nicky or ...... I think this will cause him a slight loss of focus.

Dani will be much stronger now. For Dani I think Rossi was an unscaleable mountain and he never had the confidence in himself that he could go head to head over a season and come out on top and this diminished his ability to win. Lorenzo is not the same enigma that Rossi is and I think Dani believes in himself that he can go head to head with Lorenzo and win.

Stoner will get back to the front and start winning races and taking points.

If Rossi is out through the summer break then Lorenzo will be responsible for developing the second half of the season bike. I still don't think he can develop a bike and as the Honda continues to improve and Stoner gets back to his best Lorenzo will take a confidence hit. Confidence hits kill seasons.

Funnily enough I agree here tp

George didn't look too good yesterday or in qualifying, certainly not like he has. Losing his chance to beat the goat fair and square may have taken it's toll this weekend, how he fairs before Brno will dictate the season, dani seems the only real threat, cs and ducati are lost and dovi is still improving.

It's his to loose because he is the points leader by some 25 points, but as others have stated were only 4 races into the season. With 2 first place and 2 second place finish's he sure looks like he has come of age but every rider has 1 bad race per season and this is where the 25 point lead could vanish. All he can do is keep his head down and win races and hope for the best. I wanted to put a bet on Lorenzo at the begining of the season for the championship. My misses said it would be wasting money cos rossi would win. .... !

Nope, not his to lose.

He is one DNF away from being back with the pack.

Ask me again with one race to go - I am usually a championship winning tipster at that stage

I hope you're right.

even tho i say yes it's still way to early...especially the way pedrosa ran at mugello. 1 dnf is all it'll take...

On the face of it Lorenzo seems favorite by miles. So far this season he has been the strongest and with his closest rival removed it seems like it would only make his life easier. But Dani will see this as his oppertunity, and the expectation may make everything a bit real for Jorge. I think the circumstances will effect both of their performances and we'll have to wait and see how that works out.

Lorenzo appears the favorite, but as many have said before me, the season is long and many things can happen.

Anyone thiking it's not Jorge's to loose will need to have a really good reason, so far he's shown maturity it takes to win a championship.

Truth could be that so far Lorenzo looked stronger than he is and Stoner looked weaker than he is. Pedrosa still an unknown quantity but could get stronger now that Rossi is no more haunting him and Honda seems to have found a direction. Before this season began I felt Honda was being underestimated by everybody. So basically now with Rossi out it is going to be a free for all - let's see who will be more consistent and stay healthier. Watch out for Dovi, Spies and Hayden: Nicky has already won a difficult season like this in 2006 out of sheer consistency.
