Could be. I don't really know Portuguese culture well enough to comment on that possibility.
see? says it right there. British English is the only one singled out because its the only language that pronounces it differently than everyone else. and of course the Brits had heard of it before they named the company after it. thats how they stole it.
And how many Britons (other than talking heads on the Beeb) actually speak the Queen's English?
Hell man - between the Cockneyes, the Irish, the Scots etc - you'd think they were all speaking totally different
dialects when they talk. What was the really bad-... film about junkies in London??? The speech of the actors
was so mangled that they had to put subtitles in it because even Brits couldn't understand the dialog.
Cos they are completely different. Even when I started my last job (which was only 8 miles from home) people there had trouble understanding me for a bit, cos the dialect was that different.
Not sure what movie you mean. The only thing I can think of is Trainspotting cos it had subs in 1 scene.
