Is it a certainty that Rossi will not renew with Ducati after 2012?

Barring some unexpected win either in Sepang or Valencia, Ducati is going winless this year. Frankly I do not see the bike improving by leaps and bounds next year, so I highly doubt Ducati will win a race next year either. From that scenario, is it a certain outcome Rossi will not stay with them?

At some point, Rossi is going to be considered a little long in the tooth to be given a 2 year contract with a new team worth 25-30 million dollars. His only choice might be Ducati, and even then, he will have to take less money or Ducati might be making the decision instead of Rossi. That is if next year goes anything like this year.

No. And Ducati will be happy with the divorce too. Maybe they will breath a sigh of relief, even if he left a year early. ButI doubt they would initiate it as it has not been a good PR exercise for Ducati. It could even bust them.

Stoners last laugh - Ducati offering him 20million euro to come and help them win again whilst keeping Rossi on for PR purposes only!!!

Ducati would be silly to sign Rossi again. Ducati needs a rider who is prepared to lay it on the line, adapt their style, not be so fragile or be such a sook when they get injured. What they need is a rider who has had to fight to get there not one who has had it handed to them on a silver platter. Ducati need to send their recruiters to Australia where men have balls rather than these metro sexual european girly boys.

Yes my comment was meant to offend...so suck it up girly boys!

You are a bad man Mental

Ahhhh Mental, loved it, Casey has quietly vindicated himself, Rossi has vividly embarrassed himself

Despite the element of schadenfreude I experienced I have to give it to Rossi, he had the guts to change manufacturers a few times, and then the last was jumping on the cursed Ducati.

Rossi will be around for a while yet.

On a Suzuki

Doohan was still winning championships at that age

Wow... "too old and too rich to break in a bike he's not comfortable with." Parrish doesn't pull any punches.

Doohan had more of the "the street" in him. He was a hard guy in same way DuHammel and Mladin were.

I don't picture Rossi fighting it out to the bitter end ala Chili. Despite his enormous will to win - I think he'll

opt for the comfy chair before too long.

After todays fatal accident, I wonder if Rossi might be calling it quits soon. Everything is going in the wrong direction at Ducati, and being involved in the accident that took his friends life on top of that must be devastating. Even though he could do nothing to avoid the accident, and it certainly wasn't any fault of his, this might kick the last bit of motivation out of him.

I hope I'm wrong about this, I'd love to see Rossi competitive again but the human mind is a fragile thing and sometimes it can be hard to bounce back.

Will Rossi even continue in 2012 now ? Love to see him jump on that Gresini Honda next year as a tribute to Marco !!!

Go SuperSic58

Funny how people are saying he isnt 'man enough' when pretty much every riders biggest fear is being involved in a scrap with him on the track. Not only that, he snapped his leg in 2 and was back on a bike after what, 4weeks or something? He's bloody minded and very determined. However, i think todays events might have an affect on him, cant be easy to get back on the bike after something like that.

Agreed cant be easy to get on a bike after something like that but the comment of snapping his leg in 2 ??

Geez we heard about his shoulder every interview for 9 months so if youre insinuating he has a high tolerance for pain ???

And if i have to explain why all riders have their sphyncters pucker up when they are dicing with him, you need to take more notice of the tyre marks on his leathers after he does "very great battle"..

With a 58 SUPERimposed inside the 46 logo. He'd certainly be the sentimental favorite.

Is it a certainty that this thread is stupid?

o yes

How is this thread stupid? I posted this the night before the race, didn't even know what happened to Simoncelli until the next morning when I woke up. Was just supposed to be a speculation thread before that tragedy happened.
