with the name indianapolis and seeing the state of the track and drainage or lack thereof i would of thought that the race was in india or some 3rd world country.

what a shambles of an "event", these guys put on a world class event at a substandard and below par venue.

i think motogp deserves better.

shows what america really thinks about motogp

OMG...

who said they'll be missing Pinky? you can all stop crying now

Think they did pretty well. Lots of the europen tracks would have had large ponds at apex and similar problems under those conditions.

But why am I writing this to a person that doesn't exist on the forum anymore???????

From the rider comments I have read or hear televised, all riders enjoyed the layout. This to me would indicate that as a track it is not 'half-assed' nor (to my chagrin) a 'mickey mouse' style of circuit (I say chagrin as I thought it may be to tight in early plans, so full credit here).

But whilst all riders enjoyed the layout, they also criticised the new surface sections for lack of grip and drainage. I have no doubt that the US authorities and particularly Indy will take heed and by next year all drainage problems will be resolved adequately (after all, solving drainage issues is quite easy).

This issue does not (IMO) make Indy a half-assed event, or poorly run as it wast he first year of the bikes and a learning curve exacerbated by extreme weather.

IMO, a track layout liked by the riders is a good start and it should be remembered that water pooling and streaming on circuits occurs at all tracks (I have seen some at Phillip Island that would rival Indy).

Nor IMO doest he red flag make this half-assed as despite the 'public need' for entertainment and the redneck attitudes of 'wishing for carnage' (apologies to any that may offend), ultimately the safety of the riders must be paramount. Many may want a different champion but we all want it on the track, not decided because of an accident caused by extreme weather conditions or anothers failing.

who said anything about the weather.

i was commenting on the tracks ability to cope with the conditions and also the track surface wasnt up to par, i would say the surface of the moon would of been more raceable

what made it a total farce was when all those tents got blown away, isif they hadnt known it was going to b windy. luckily someone wasnt killed.

Pinky, what on earth are you on about?

Considering the conditions, I reckon they did bloody well to stage the event at all. Nice to see a bit of flexibility within the organisation of the event, with the emphasis on still putting on a show.

Let's face it, if those conditions had hit Donington, we'd still be trying to get out the car parks.

I think they coped with the conditions really well, lookiong at the amount of water on the track not long after the 125 race, I didn't think there was any way they could run the motogp, that they got rid of most of the standing water as fast as they did, was a great job.

Well I guess that out Hong Kong Tour guide must have to get up early in the morning and practice...no one can be naturally that stupid...can they?

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE <div class='quotemain'>During the pre-event press conference at Indianapolis, 2006 world champion Nicky Hayden confirmed that he won't be riding for Honda next season and gave a revealing glimpse into life at HRC's factory team.

Hayden, who has been with Repsol Honda since his 2003 MotoGP debut, will join Ducati Marlboro next season, where he will ride alongside 2007 world champion Casey Stoner - although the move is still to be officially announced.

"It's looking like World Superbike with Aprilia," Hayden joked, when asked about 2009.

From the link Roger posted:
"It's no secret; everybody knows where my next stop is going to be," continued Nicky, without actually naming Ducati. "But officially we're waiting on to do it the right way until the releases come out because there's teams and stuff.
Sounds like confirmation to me.
