Indy for 3 more years

They are talking about moving Brno after Indy. That way, there would be 2 races in a 2 week period in the states. They say they would leave the equipment here and the riders could go back to Europe if they had obligations, or could tour the states for a while in between races

Pov, that would be very cost effective, so i doubt Dorna would do it. They rather move everything to East Europe then return to Tx (or something).

Wilski, i agree my brotha from anotha motha, and if i ever hav privilege to join u, l bet it will be as memorable as Laguna. At Indy, its a TOTAL city experience. We r talking full on downtown party, flat track racing, and affordable vip suite & paddock. Let me put it this way, how consequentual was the 'track layout' at Laguna to the entire 4 day event experience? The peeps on TV see 45 mins of event and declare it boring.

Do u watch F1? I personally think the GP of Monaco is the worst track for 'racing'. Absolutely boring racing. They might as well put them on train rails and say, ok, attempt passes. But ive been ther, and the 'experience' is amazing. Its the same with Indy. I'd say Indy offers more in experience as does Laguna. Anyway, we got 3 more years. If they do Tx & Indy back to back, ther is ur excuse to stay a month at my pad!

The initial talk withing the paddock is that the three USA races would be

Austin early in the year, maybe april/may

Laguna in July

Indy in August

Looks as if the plan i mentioned is going to be implemented. Laguna and Indy moved closer toghether, equipment will stay in the states, riders free to go wherever. If the series was smart, they would use those 3 weeks to barmstorm the country, promoting GP at every turn. Leno, Conan, try to entice Sportcenter to do a piece on GP. Make it a 3 week traveling roadshow. Invade a couple of cities where Nasacr is holding a Chase event. Dorna needs to learn how to promote in the US. I will do it for them for a small fee if they wish.

Austin is on the southern edge of Tornado Alley. Spring brings cold fronts, wild temperature changes, and severe storms. Historically, the area immediately around Austin has been fortunate in that it has escaped without any particularly violent tornadoes striking. However, the general area is prone to severe weather.

May 9, 1953. 100+ killed in Waco, 100 miles to the north.

May 27, 1997. Jarrell, Texas, 40 miles N. of Austin, was wiped off the map.

April is no less stormy. If anything, the zone of greatest activity will be further to the south earlier in the year.

Of course none of this is reason to bail on the race, but it wouldn't hurt to keep an eye on the weather during the weekend.

Honestly, I'd be more worried about the Texas cops and wacko Republicans. But I hear Austin is a bit of a political oasis made up of more sensible types of peeps.

I gotta say that Indy ain't anyones favourite bike race track, but for me personally, I love the whole racing experience. Getting to the track on a Thursday or early Friday, the atmosphere, the smell and the noise, wondering around the paddock and being part of a whole event as it unfolds. Its the meeting of like minded friends, hanging out and having a beer. Its great if this all takes place at an awesome track, but if it don't, well I am still gonna enjoy it. I would rather be racing than not racing.

Look at Silverstone this year. I now feel that the UK has a great facility and a pretty cool circuit. It p1ssed down that much that we couldn't leave our seats so we saw nothing of the rest of the track. For all we knew, the riders could have disappeared around the last corner in our view, entered the back of the new pit and said " .... that, I ain't doing another lap in this ..... Lets wait here for 2 mins 20 seconds, leave pit lane and come haulin ... around that corner. None of those knobs sitting up in them seats will be any wiser ". It wouldn't have mattered to us. We still had a great time !

I met a really cool dude at Laguna. This guy attended 6 or 7 races a year. I love Brno. I think its a great track, wide, flowing and fast. Its great to spectate from, its cheap and the beer is good. This guy didn't really enjoy Brno or like it that much though because he thought some of the facilities were not up to scratch. It does prove that in certain instances the track don't really matter to some people. Its the package as a whole.

Indy has history and thats enough for me to want to have a peek at it !
