My $00.02...

Vale just played head games with 'The Stoner'...

When it didn't turn out that that VR needed a gun or a head start...

Casey couldn't handle the pressure Vale applied. No shame in that, many, many talented riders have made mistakes trying to handle Vale.

BTW, 'The Stoner' couldn't carry Vale's helmet - let alone his leathers - if it weren't for the "video game" bikes they use in MotoGP currently. I'd love to see any of the current crop of young hotshoes (ANY of them) mix it up with Vale (or Mick, or for God Sake's KR Sr.) on something like an NSR500 or a TZ750!

Can you say "also rans"...

I knew ya' could!!!!!!!

And ya' KNOW they would...

Whats all this got to do with watching it live?

I can go one better anyway ..... I watched it live on my couch ..... and then wondering what I just saw, I watched it again in slow-mo ...... then again ..... in frame by frame ....... I watched it live is sometimes a tad overated ....... one reason I won't go to PI when the race is on ..... its so limitting being a spectator at track you place yourself in a spot and see flashes of bikes going past. That in itself is a thrill worth going for, however, I find the facilities provided by most video coverage tend to get a bit more incisive than any live/being there can ever get.

For a start the cameras pan with the riders which instantly puts wou more in reference to what the rider is doing ......

But some things are worth going for .... the extranious stuff ..... like the "feel" of the place/time .... or "occurances etc.

As to whether "being there" takes away from a bit of the actual race .... yes it does for me. The only way to get better coverage of any race etc.. than video ca provide, was to actually compete

Not sure I am supposed to have posted in this thread at all though as I note it seems another of those Rossifan started threads working towards another massive Rossiworship ejaculation.

Unfotunately the Tv cannot pick up how noisy these bikes really are... its worth it just to see how close they race and how you can hear them at any point on the track.

Johnne, glad you had a great time. I'm envious of you and everyone else how gets to go to see it live. Hell I'd rather stand outside of the gates to hear the race live than watch it at home. Post some photos if you get a chance.

Yeah thats another reason to go for sure ..... but meh ..... I'm over that as a reason to go

I think I would go rather "for the atmosphere" than the noise ( no not noise .... sound as it is worthwhile ) though.

Never was much of a spectator though ...... did when I was a tiny tot but once I got to "can enter" age I was pretty much oblivious to the spectators side of the story. Never really have adapted either it was nice being on the inside of the fence but outside? well I'd rather watch from home..

i'd rather go to the race then go home and watch a recording of it live. have my cake and eat it

Best bet is to go to the track and watch the race live whilst having your pvr record the race for when you get home half tanked. Philip Island has a great atmosphere and the track is excellent for spectating as well. I would reckon a fair few other races have that same atmosphere over the whole weekend. Perhaps one day I will get to experience it. I just hate that flying business.

Edit - Rog beat me to it.
