Much as you admire rossi, it is nice to have a countryman to support, isn't it?

Mate, if you think that 2004 to 2006 were a "golden era" then you are more misguided that I previously thought!

Go rent, buy or steal some vids or dvd's of any season between 1986 & 1993 and you'll get to see what a real golden era looks like...

.... me... after winning the world title ONCE, does Stoner & Ducati have to lose every race this season in order for you to consider it interesting??

Vale has a competitive machine & the same tyres as Stoner so let's see how the season pan's out for a bit before you start chucking a wobbly!

( And how come you're not cranky at Boy Jorge, Pedrobot & Dovi for finishing in front as well? )

I think the recent history of motogp has given us easily some of the best racing in the sports history and i think 2006 was the best year ever seen. The only thing keeping the current era from being regarded a golden one is that Rossi has been too dominant.

My my! Sorry to see someone go but really, blaming Stoner and Ducati? How is the current state of motogp Stoner's fault? You're just laughable. And blaming Ducati? Ducati have worked long and hard and come up with some good stuff, all within the rules. If the Japs can't equal that to create some decent competition, whose fault is it? I bet you were the kid in class who blamed the class nerd for your bad results!
I loved yesterday's race. Sure Rossi didn't win but we saw a good tussle and I was thrilled to see JT do so well and be so aggressive and little Dovi pulling a typical Vale move on the last lap!! Vale's still my hero of course and the season's still long. Vale's not going to race for ever. He's the only one of the 'old' guys still giving the new ones any competition. We're just lucky he didn't bugger off to rallying two years ago.

Debatable Tom... surprisingly enough I've enjoyed the racing just as much since we lost Mick Doohan ( ardent aussie supporter showing through! ) but there really hasn't been anyone remotely capable of consistently beating Vale until the last couple of years, so therefore the years that I mentioned are a better indicator of a proper "golden era" where you had any one of 6 or 7 riders capable of winning regularly during a season.

The year 2000 season was definitely a cracker too though!

Thats why i said the recent times have given us some of the best racing ever, but would conceded that the era as a whole wasn't as exciting because it was always Rossi + someone else, and the championship battles were far more clear cut. It's the major downside to watching a legend like Rossi do his thing, but i'm ok with it

Yes Bikergir...Fully Agree with Ul!!! Forget about the Jap’s cause there just false pretenders!!! What when GP racing started Mr Honda was a counterfeiter of the great MV’S and all the European and Italian technologies!!! So it’s about time that the crown came back to where it belongs and that is to the land of the real passion and class of motorcycle and motor racing CLASS!!!

And that is where it all started!!! I say no more cause there is nothing more to be said!!! It’s great to see that there is life after the Yamaka, Hondaka and the whatever else cause the Kwakaka Kakaka its self!!! Cheers and lets not be to harsh on the 2008 season as from what ive seen its going to be a BEAUTY!! As we say here in the land of the real riders and legends!!...hheee

HONDA WERE A MAJOR FACTOR IN FORCING THIS CHANGE THROUGH AND BECAUSE DUCATI HAVE MANAGED TO PUT TOGETHER THE MOST COMPETITIVE PACKAGE THEY SHOULD NOT BE SHOT FOR IT.
DUCATI HAVE MADE THE MOST OF WHAT IS LEGALLY AVAILABLE. THE OTHERS ARE PLAYING CATCH UP.

I DO AGREE THAT ELECTRONICS ARE A MAJOR FACTOR AND THINGS LIKE TRACTION CONTROL MAY SLOWLY TAKE AWAY SOME EXCITING ASPECTS OF THE SPORT, BUT AT THE END OF THE DAY, ITS STILL THE DUDE WHO WANTS TO KEEP THE THROTTLE OPEN THE LONGEST THAT WINS THE RACE.

NASCAR, NOW THAT IS SOME BORING SHT

Again with the Nascar bashing. Seriously, after hearing all the bashing of Nascar I decided to see if it was really that bad. I have watched the last three races and the more I know about it the more intriguing it gets. Yeah it can get a little boring sometimes but thats what TIVO's are for. Sorry, until you have given NASCAR a true shot please STFU...

I can see where Noodleface is coming from. I hate to see Stoner run away with these races. Its pretty dis-heartining to the point where you don't want to watch anymore. I like watching all the battles on the field but the most important is for the podium spots. So while watching a 4th place battle is good, or watching a 10 place battle is good, its not like watching a 1st place battle. Unless something major changes and some teams comes up with the goods, I think that it looks like this season we will be watching a lot of back field battles. Stoner just looks too strong at the moment.

Edit: I am not going to quit watching though

So rather than watching the race live in it's entirety, we are supposed to fast forward to the crashes and cautions?

I've watched a few NASCAR races, it's a different type of racing. Compared to moto gp it's STALE.

Please don't. I'm not about to try my hand at defending NASCAR because I know exactly where you are coming from. I'm liking it though ATM.
