Not one, zilch, none of us, made a post wondering if Spies was in trouble in race 2 because of the rambling of Steve Martin. He carried on and on about Spies was having some kind of technical trouble and at one point made it sound like he was in grave danger of losing the title. Saying he had fallen so far back and that Camier and another rider were catching him ,and if he lost those 2 spots,he would lose the title if Haga was to win. Those 2 riders he refered to were 8 seconds behind Spies and he made it sound like they would be nipping at his heels at any moment because his pace was so slow. Everyone on this board saw what was going on and understood the situation for what it was.Not so on other boards.Obviously a lot of fans and media took Martin to heart and are just dying to know what was wrong with Spies bike to the point that Spies and Yamaha had a press release to set things straight.

You don't know Babelfish very much do you?

You might want to change your thread title: Props to 99.99% of Powersliders.

If you haven't read, Babel want us to believe doing "just enough" is not a worth title clinching strategy since Rossi did "more than enough" and is worth of more praise for his clinching strategy.

To be honest Pov, I thought Spies might have made a bum tire choice like he did previously. He did run wide once and this is what got the commentators going. It did appear he was having some issues if you observe on the fly then have to make commentary (especially for those Euros who haven't had the experience of seeing him in the AMA like we were privileged to).

I knew he would do exactly what he did.And i knew from watching him secure 3 titles in a row by being calculating and smart. When he ran wide, i saw it as a waveby while he looked for that hole that seperates the front runners from the second tier. Maybe Martin was just trying to keep the drama up,that is his job as a commentator. I was cool as a cucumber till i saw what Biaggi was up to .

I like the commentary by Greene and Martin, however the more Steve Martin has been making race commentary the more he has been trying to make judgment calls on whats going on technically with riders during the race. The few times they have let Randy Mamola make race commentary he does the same thing. If you get a chance, watch the coverage done by British Eurosports Burnicle and Whitam, it's pretty good. I do however get a kick out of some of the stuff Greene says, especially when he's arguing with Martin.

What's funny about how Spies won the title is James Toesland did a similar thing in 2007. He had enough point advantage going into the final two races that when Haga did the double win, he (JT) could still coast in 6th in race 2 and secure the title by 2 points.

Green's voice is like nails on a blackboard. I like the Eurosport guys much better.
They have what sounds to me like rustic country accents. When I listen to them
I always picture them wearing faded coveralls and stained thermal undershirts,
sitting around on old cider barrels drinking home-brewed beer and cutting up
chunks of cheddar with folding pocket knives. When I finally saw a video in which
they appeared, I was amazed to learn they weren't 68 year old men.
