Hey,

Just read a small article today...cos thats all i can take right now tongue.gif

Kenny Roberts Senior has warned his rivals, that his team could be serious contenders this year.

He goes on to state that Team KR will be winners again after securing Honda engines and taking on KRJ ...ex champ here don't forget!!

Its good for them to have a good engine and would be good to see them competitive...

But what is everyone elses take on this new development??

Fantasy team reshuffle ...perhaps?? wink.gif

Think Kenny's just putting himself in a more mentally secure position. I'd be surprised if he took a win. Both him and the KR Honda are pretty good, but there's some real stiff competition. Really, he only had one impressive result in preseason and that was months ago. I'd like to see him do well, mostly because he's the son of one of my favourite racers of all time, but low budget teams really struggle in 4 stroke GP racing. I really hope he can do well, just to prove 4 stroke racing is about Innovation just as much as investment.
I wonder if KRSR's "Homemade RCV" Will do better than the real Hondas due ti the fact that it dosen't share their chassis therefore their chassis problems. Is he on the Made-for-M1 Michelins?

I think they can be very competitive. They have the best powerplant in the series, some of the best chassis builders in the series, a former World Champion at the controls and an ambitious front office. Yes, Team KR Honda are Michelin shod for 2006 as they were for 2005.

I'm sure they can be competitive, and they'll do better than the likes of WCM, but still, an ageing KRJR on a shoestring budget bike up against dominant Camel M1s? Or incredibly in-form Ducatis? I wouldn't count him out for a podium and a few top 5 finishes, but I don't think they'll be one of the most competitive teams, and a win would be a big surprise.

That's why Team KR's got RCV motors now.

Welcome to the site!

They may not be on a shoe string budget for much longer. There was an article with KRSR not too long ago and he talked about sponsors. He said that there has never been more interest in the team but that he is really looking for a sponsor who is committed to a long term deal but with the current instability of the sport most sponsors are looking for short term deals.

But even with a sponsor, I think he'll be strapped for cash as he dosen't have a factory behind him. Honda only do his engines. Mind you, a team as talented as Team KR probably dosen't need it. Hope ole King Kenny gets a sponsor, though

It would be hard to get a win this year for KR, but I wouldn't rule it out,..

as we know they have the plant now, instead of half arsed KTM ....., and as we know soem of the other satalite Honda teams were much better than the so called Factory team,.

also remember McWilliams put the KR framed bike on Pole in Phillip island simple because is was such a sweet handling frame, and he could let it 'flow' round that curcuit, obviously when it came to racing he was blew away as the KR lump had no grunt and once you parked am M1 or RCV in front of it the mommentum was gone,.

now if they can get that frame to handle the xtra power in that wee frame
<
, and KR jnr is by no means adone & dusted just yet
<
Hmmm,. will be good to watch,.

also Jerez is not a Horse Power circuit as such,. so we should get a good indication of whats ahead for them

Wooaaooh hold on guys, Ooost is right here. KR has just as much chance of winning a race as say Barros in Portugal last year. He's got more talent and consistency than Barros but has had seriuos motivation problems. He's an ex world-champ that has been riding utter crap machinery for the past 5 years. If he gets his head right he'll do good. The Suzuki he won the world title on wasn't exactly the best bike in the paddock at that time either. I won't be a bit surprised if he bags a win. He will be on the podium a few times for sure.

Welcome to the forum, are you Hong Kong based or eleswhere??

Back to the discussion heres hoping that the KR team pull a few suprises this season ..

You guys think the new KR bike is better than a factory GSV-R? (Wouldn't be hard to beat) What about the new air valve one? It's taking Hopper to the top of the timesheets, can't be that bad. It's going faster than the KR Honda, too.
I don't doubt KRJR's ability, it's the bike I question. I mean sure, it's got an RCV donk, Michelin hoops, and the chassis is pretty good, but it's still one of those small budget bikes without factory support or funding. They don't have a history of doing well. That said, with the recourses at his disposal KRSR made a good choice to make his own RCV rather than becoming another high operating cost Honda team

I think the only way KRJR will end up on a podium is in a wet race. Other than that...I think the competition will be too strong for Roberts this year.

Winning too much does one of two things
you love him
or you hate him

as long as rossi keeps beating little niki round the track he's alright by me.
i do hate niki H though dont like his attitude, he's still young though mabe he'll grow up.

I can give you some reasons why people on this site dislike the Doctor:
1) He wins so much that their favourite riders never get a chance
2) He can be a prick sometimes (Ask Hopper, Gibbers or Biaggi)
3) He's not Spanish

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (The Doctor @ Mar 24 2006, 12:56 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}><div class='quotemain'>I think the only way KRJR will end up on a podium is in a wet race. Other than that...I think the competition will be too strong for Roberts this year.

Probably true, wet races provide an oppourtunity for less powerful bikes (ZX-RR, GSV-R, ect.) to do well because not even a GP rider can use 250 horses in the wet. And I know KR have got the most powerful donk, but Honda are still servicing it and I wouldn't be surprised if it's been de-tuned a bit as part of the contract. Because Honda wouldn't want KRJR to do so well that he'd be flogging their factory bikes on a weekly basis, and Team KR were probably so desperate for a motor that they were in no position to negotiate.
