The PRAMAC D’ANTIN MOTOGP Team is pleased to announce the confirmation of ALEX HOFMANN for the 2007 season. The German rider will be the Team mate of Alex Barros and will have at his disposal the DUCATI DESMOSEDICI GP7, with tyres BRIDGESTONE. His experience, with the Italian bike and the new tyres, will surely be useful for the whole Team, especially with the arrival of the new 800cc. The first test will be in January, in Malaysia. In the meanwhile, HOFMANN will remove the 16 screws and the 2 plates he’s got in his foot and in his ankle, from the crash he had last year during the GP of Japan. The operation will be done tomorrow, Friday 3rd November. He will remain in Hospital during 3-4 days and his rehabilitation will take about three weeks.

ALEX HOFMANN: “I want to thank Paolo Campinoti, Luis d’Antín and DUCATI for this new opportunity. After one year of hard work, during which I always tried to make it the best as I could, thinking about 2007, I’m happy to have the opportunity, as I hoped, to take part in a good season with a great “package” bike-tyres. In 2007, my aim will be to demonstrate that I can be a Top rider in the MotoGP class as well. I can’t wait to go on track and make the first test”.

LUIS D’ANTIN (Team Manager): “We’re happy to confirm ALEX HOFMANN for the 2007 season that will be rich of news. He always worked making the maximum during the whole 2006 season, when things weren’t easy, and he deserved our trust. He knows the DUCATI and the BRIDGESTONE tyres well, which will help us to work immediately in the best way”.

Nice to see him stay, I like his as a rider even though he may have squandered a few chances.

Go Alex!

Congrats to him.

I think he'll be a genuine title contender for next year

Nah, I'm not that sarcastically mean really!!
<

well it's good for him but honestly i just don't see him doin squat! i mean he had the chance to race the factory bike twice & could'nt get it top 10! bayliss on the other hand rides it once, on tires he unfamilar with, & wins the bloody race!

Hoffman is a good rider.
There are two types of riders that race.
1. Purely talented
2. Work hard to get there.

Hoffman is leaning towards the #2 side although I'd say anyone on this level has to have a share of #1 as well.

Hoffman is a great development rider as well.

I cant see why Hoffman is in motogp - apart from he's the Token German. Having said that, didnt he finsih above Loris in estoril?

I think Barros is going to show him up next season - who knows, the D'antin package is pretty crap, maybe when they have current, new bikes they will be more competitive.........sure is going be interesting comparing Pramac to the factory squad.

should have gave him the boot!

don't u mean "das boot" !

I think Barros will show him up definitly.
At the beginning I think Hoff might be a little better just because he has Ducati/Bridgestone experience.

But as we saw with bayliss who likes to ride the front, and Barros does too, the Bridgestones may very well make Barros very fast very soon.

And aren't the D'Antin bikes supposed to be pretty even with the factory now? I don't know what to believe, they've been saying that for the last few pre-seasons.
