So if he went to Yamaha he wouldnt be Rossi's .....?

As for Ducati I dont think that would be a good move, they always disapoint

I don't think he will be anyone's ..... at HRC. The reason it took so long to get him to finally sign at HRC was because they were negotiating over details and the details didn't involve money. Hayden is making sure he won't get screwed over if he stays.

I have read officially that he was negotiating over his team, he wanted to make sure that Pete Benson remained his crew chief and wanted control over who remains in the team. Unofficially, I've heard rumors of him getting a bit more control so he and Pete can test new parts when they have time, rather than wasting FPs sorting out new pieces when they should be setting up the bike.

So it looks like Nicky has played it smart. Very smart. He`s got himself back on the factory team of the manufacturer who will most probably come out with the best package next year, and he`s managed to cut out the meddling that arguably cost hima few points this season whit the Evo and parts tests, and kept himself from being a ..... to the "other rider" like he was for 3 years before this season.

^ from reading hayden diary, or blog or watever he writttes on his site he seems pretty happy with his descision...
