Nori is DESPERATE to win a SBK title so I rekon if the opportunity to ride the Duke comes his way...... he'll take their hands off
 
There goes Spies ticket to a factory superbike seat. If this dose happen. Wait, maybe we could see him take Haga's old position!!!!

If its true then I am over the moon for Haga....He deserves a WSBK title....and the Yamaha R1 sucks, so why not give it a go on the Duc!?!

Spies won't get the Haga Yamaha seat unless Yamaha is desperate for someone with NO experience on the R1 and Pirellis, and little world level experience...also, If Corser is going to BMW then that would leave the Yamaha team with NO experienced riders, which would means hiring Spies is a huge gamble for the team and sponsor....not likely to happen.
 
I do like Haga and it would be funny to see a japanese win a title on an Italian machine so I say GO FOR IT NORI!!!!
 
Not sure that I'd say the R1 sucks! Haga and Corser seem to be consistantly up there (even though Haga had a shocker on the weekend).

The R1 dissadvantage is probably that it is 200cc smaller than the twins and unfortionately as the twins get more development behind them, this may become a bigger disadvantage.

The CBR1000RR are 200cc down on the twins and they seem to be doing just fine, and similar story for the Suzuki. If the R1 was a better machine then I think Haga would be doing much much better.
 
Would love to see Nori win the title on any machine. I think he deserves it. If he get's the chance on the Duc then hopefully this might happen.
 
anybody else hear the eurosport boys talking inbetween the SS race and race 2 about the yamaha electronic damping etc?
any way, they basically said that the yamaha has the most sophisticated TC/engine management system of all the WSB bikes! and they still cant win a title. just goes to show how much the rider counts (and having the ruling body on your side helps too)

LIsten that 200 cc's you say is such a HUGE deficit is making teams lose to Ducati is wrong. A few years ago the displacement of the 4's were at 750 and the Twins which if some of you don't realize is two cylinders vs 4 cylinders were at 1000cc's so don't play that card. The power of the bikes is really about the same and the fours actually make more horsepower than the twins. The difference is where the power is put to the pavement by way of the torque and how it is managed. If there was this huge unfavorable advantage by increasing the displacement it would never be allowed. The sheer cost to maintain the old 999 version ducati made had to be torn down almost completely at the end of the race and rebuilt. They were saying that the cost to run in SBK was that of running a GP bike and that doesn't work.
 
I am going to throw a view that is likely not to be popular so here goes.

Why does Haga deserve the ride (if it comes through)?

He has had opportunities and in all reality delivered very little in return. Yes he has some race wins and even high placings in the championship but he is yet to get a title despite having been in top flight teams.

In MotoGP we talk about riders overstaying their 'use by' dates because they are no longer producing results, where is the difference?

He may well be a nice guy, he may well be an entertaining racer and he may well be one of the most talented riders on the track (IMO), but he rarely delivers which (IMO again) makes him a potential bad investment for Ducati.

If this eventuates and he does not win a title then all will be clear that he just lacks in a vital area (which I feel with mental application/concentration).

Time will tell and I will likely be wrong as he has the talent, but I remain unconvinced that he is the 'right' person for the job.

Who exactly is he competing against. Xerox want a rider who can fight for the 09 world title, realistically that rules out any rookies. Cece and Kiyo are unlikely to move from Honda (maybe even signed?), and Xaus and Neukirchner are signed. That essentially leaves Corser, Fabrizio, Biaggi, Nieto and Kagayama as the "experienced" riders. He is actually the most qualified man.

Nitro Haga must win the 2009 WSBK title and he has no reason not to win. Bayliss has proved that 1098 is competitive and furthermore veteran riders are with the new team and bikes: Biaggi, Xaus, Corser.

IMO the Yam he rode in 2008 is quite competitive and will see if the new Yam rider can beat him next year

That's what I was thinking. Currently there doesn't seem to be a better alternative. Neukirchner looked great for a while, but he has fallen off since winning race 1 at Misano. Corser may be more consistent, but he isn't winnng races.

Hopefully Fabrizio can improve his starts and stay closer to the front in the first half of the race. The way he comes on late in the race, he could win a lot of if he could stay in the top five for the first half of the race.
