It is a good question Matt ... i guess they would know prior to signing a contract which countries they will and wont get coverage in, ... i wouldv'e just guessed they got payed the same, but now that you bring it up...

interestingly enough, the Australian GP was brought forward a month to avoid the new ban on tobacco advertisement which came into place at the start of October this year. So next year, no tobacco sponsorship to be shown in Aus.
 
I would have thought the tobacco companies would look into the prospect of MotoGP sponsorship, see what rounds they could fly the colours at and where they couldn't, look at all the advertising stats, weigh up the costs, get their lawyers to write up complicated contracts so they can get all thier money back suing riders and teams halfway through the term of the agreement, all that business stuff, then sign a cheque for X squillion dollars over to the team for the entire year. I didn't think they would pay round by round...
