Good luck "ELBOWZ"

I thought Nicky Hayden had beaten Mladin in a straight fight for the AMA title in 2002...

Or was that just Honda PR?

Nicky beat Mladin pretty handily in only his second year. He missed winning the title in his first season by just 6 points. Spies has beaten Mladin twice now; I think any one who can beat Mladin probably has the goods. I'm not sure Spies is as good as Nicky or Hopper, but rumor has it he's become a workaholic so he may be able to adapt.

If Spies goes to GP I don't know who to root for. Hayden is my boy, but with a young talented Texan in MotoGP it's going to be hard to stay loyal if he and Spies start dueling.

The wierd thing is, Spies is only one year younger than Hopper. Hopper has already been in GP for 6 season and next year will be 7.

It seems so strange. Spies will have to learn quick, by the time the 2009 season starts he'll be nearly 25.

Good luck Ben.

Pardon?

2001
M. Mladin 380
E. Bostrom 365
N. Hayden 340

2002 Three-time AMA U.S. Superbike Champ Mladin struggled with injury and equipment woes, resulting in his first winless season since 1996... He earned podium finishes at California Speedway, Mid-Ohio and Virginia Intl Raceway... Raced with Blimpie Suzuki team.

I've heard some crazy stuff from Hayden fan before...but 6 points and not acknowledging that Mladin was injured in 2002 takes the cake...

The Hopper thing...well it took him 6 years to get on the podium and his team mate 2 to get on podium and win a race......so I'd be cheering for Spies and not the Hopper.

A lot of people saw 2002 coming because the last half of 01,Nicky was kicking Mladins ... in his championship season but was to far down in the standings to win it all because of bike failures and getting dinged. In 02 no one was stopping him under any conditions,he was dominant winnig like 9-10 races. He had a season similar to what Stoner is having this year.Eric Bostrom had maybe his best year and still finished close to 40 points behind.

I think this is what you have to do with a superbike rider now. Ease him in. Capper will have a year and then Ben comes on board if he works well in testing and wild card rides. I am really interested in how he does. He is also a healthy 165lbs so he must get a trainer and "skinny up" to ride motogp. Under 150 is the norm.

Good luck Ben.

I think Schwantz himself - in response to the rumours of his return to GPs -" There have been many rumors about my future plans that I would like to clarify.

My entire career was spent in MotoGP and I have the desire to return at a management level. I have expressed my desire to Suzuki and am waiting to hear what opportunities there may be. Until I receive confirmation from Suzuki Motor Corporation as to when-where-and-how, it is all speculation."

I do how ever believe that he will be back in Gps and I would love to see Spies mix it up with everyone. I think that it will be crucial to get as much seat time on the GP bike before he gets thrown into the deep end.

I haven't been a big I-4 fan or a Suzuki fan, but after taking the KSSS this summer. I am starting to like team Suzuki. I really like Schwantz so there you go...

You lucky sonofa! I have been wanting to get down there and take the KSSS for a while now.

I think Kevin Schwantz has been somewhat of a mentor for Spies. He has worked with him throughout his career and likes him a lot. If he makes a move to GP management I'm sure he'd like to be working with Spies. Texans take care of one another I guess! I don't see Denning getting the boot in order for Schwantz to come in, so I'd predict another team.

Oh please, my head is a mess of race info sometimes. I'm clearly remembering something I read and applying it to Nicky. Thank you for correcting me though.

Thank you. Somebody needed to explain that even though Mladin didn't have his A-game, Nicky wasn't going to be denied.

For everyone waiting on a Suzuki satellite team, don't hold your breath! Schwantz has been trying to get involved in Motogp with Suzuki for a while now. He's been shafted at every turn. Spies is Schwantz's in b/c he's Spies mentor, but Suzuki will probably find a way to keep him out of the mix. The riding school gig has been the only offer from Schwantz that Suzuki actually supported.

............

Man, you should do it. I can't say enough good things about KSSS. The teachers are excellent, you get to ride with Schwantz. Nuff said...

You get to ride with Schwantz and watch him disappear on you while you are at your limit.... how cool is that to let you know that you are in the midst of talent at another level...

Anyways, I have had such a good time that I am making it a yearly tradition. If you are serious, let me know (PM me) and maybe we can meet up at the school..
