Sete Gibernau has a training session planned in Mugello next week ahead of a possible return to action at the Czech Republic MotoGP on August 17th.
The retired Catalan rider has already achieved competitive times on the new Ducati Desmosedici machine in previous trials at the Italian circuit, and, it is reported that the team is seriously considering bringing him in to replace Marco Melendri, who finished 16th in California last weekend after a disappointing start to the season.
There are rumours that Gibernau will be offered a contract until the end of this season with a one-year extension option.
During a fourteeen-year career (1992-2006) spanning 173 races, Gibernau won nine times, finishing in the top three on 21 other occasions.
