<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE<div class='quotemain'>What I am trying to get at is this: would rider A be willing to lose a few points to help his friend, rider B, gain a few more points in the championship thereby putting B closer to the golden ring?

Does this ever happen in any proffesional sports? I can't think of any at the moment.

I think nationality would come into play here not just the fact that some rider is friends with another.

but i think the best riders are greedy and want to win every race anyway.

the only time riders let someone by is if team orders are in place...

and as many have pointed out (complete with images
<
) team has very different meanings! But I was thinking more along the lines of between teams.

But can you really call Nicky and Dani friends. Marco and Casey, or even Jorge and Vale?

What about Vale and Nicky?
Didn´t any of you think that sometimes Nicky just took a couple of turns too wide? And of course will all this issues at Repsol he might have wanted to help take some points of Pedrosa.

That crash still brings a smile to my face

Oh it was not pretty

I was there when it happened and I swear Nicky would have pulled a gun if there was enough space in that suit ( which, as I´m sure Bikergirl will point out, really shows off his butt!
<
). But seriously, it was pretty intense. That crash and the photo finish. At the end we were all looking at each other asking who had won.

Road cycling.

I'm a big Eddie Irvine fan (i know his family well) and i was delighted when Schumi broke his leg.... Eddie got the chance to win races.

If any of the riders have respect and integrity for the sport, then No, they wouldn't let any rider, friend or foe, through. The only exception is when the championship is on the line and the team is in contention for a championship. Other than that, no, never should a rider give a free pass to another.
