awesome battle at the front until melandri got robbed. deserved victory for sykes nevertheless

hope leon is ok, he's got a lot of pain in his neck.

reas leg badly injured.

At least it will definitely be the last time somethinglike tthis happened, I'd be very surprised if there was a german sbk round next year and if the nurburgring would want to host another wsbk

c`mon man, don't be so harsh on us. didn't you read the NEW rulebook?

"rule 93 (46 in OLD rulebook): if wsbk crosses with motogp, the last have absolute priority :)

(i had the race taped and just watched. .... it, red flagged race two, too.

I watched it today, so wanted to but was too fcuked last night when I got home.

Firstly I hope both the riders that went down on the oil have a full and speedy recovery.

Secondly WTF were those marshals playing at?

Waved yellows and the oil slippery surface should have been out from the moment (I forget who's) bike went pop and started to bellow .... all over the track.

And he was a .... too why didn't he get his ... on the grass?

JR, LC, and were injured because of the incompetence of the marshals IMO.

Clit, I care about Wsbk, thing is we don't get it live and or consistently.  To add insult to injury, its now on a channel that you can only get if you pay extra for the sport package.  And...sometimes life interrupt.

Great races.

I'm happy for Davies.  He is looking very good.

This track is dangerous folks.  I was shocked to see JRea go into the wall like that, and I was genuinely upset watching it.  I happened to be watching the race with er indoors and she blurted out "oh my god".  I was like Damnn, that looked bad.  Whats the update on JRea's health?  Also, what the hell happened to Baz?  I only got to see the races and they only mentioned he had been in a crash.

If we were to ever get races like these in MotoGP, our heads would explode.  We are witnessing some of the best world class racing, and it does seem like nobody gives a .....  Then again, I don't subscribe to this notion that MotoGP has the exclusive hold on the "best" riders in the world.  So perhaps thats why I can appreciate what these guys do.  The last laps were mental, and the top 4 in race two were at eachothers throats, yet still doing it cleanly.  Too bad the destruction of this series has already begun.

Germany WSBK: Rea breaks femur, lack of flags ‘unbelievable’

Jonathan Rea has described the lack of oil flags at the point where he suffered a huge accident towards the end of the first World Superbike race at the Nurburgring as 'unbelievable' as he prepares to undergo surgery to correct his broken femur.

The Ulsterman, along with Leon Camier, suffered a spectacular accident on the penultimate lap of the first race whilst running in fourth position, Rea hitting oil deposited by Federico Sandi's Pedericini Kawasaki, which had expired a lap earlier

With no apparent oil flags being waved at one of the fastest points on

the circuit, Rea – who was conscious throughout the dramatic tumble –

has been left with a broken femur, one that threatens to keep him on the

sidelines, even if no recovery period has been speculated as yet.

DOH Race direction / marshalls didnt have much time then to get the flags out or make a call to red flag it./ A lap earlier WTF

Let me clarify a few things here

1. Its race directions fault. Marshals not allowed to wave flag without explicit order (how german is that?)

2.gekko, I'm much more pissed off because no one cares about la marra. Stk was awesome this year with him and barrier

3. Rea is still god

Point no:1 is both dangerous and stupid!

FFS the marshals area there witnessing what is happening first hand.

As soon as Sandi sprayed the oil the oil flag and waved yellows should have been out!

.... race direction sat behind their tv screens monitoring!

If they saw what we saw on tv then they only found out about Sandi blowing his engine after JR and LC went down.

How dumb is that, for a race that is usually so efficient they sure fcuked up this time!

+ ....... 1.

the great shame of it is that the officials don't seem to learn and hence change the rules.letting this happen over and over again is just asking for an atrocity to happen.

search for nürburgring oil spill on youtube.

btw, more and more rumors that sachsenring is the new favorite to host wsbk next year

TBH after this fcuk up it would be a good thing.

At least the marshals and RD know how to keep the riders safe there,

As we have witnessed first hand ;)

no nordschleife though if we go there :(

on the other hand , us not driving/riding  THE high speed track takes away the last reason not to be ......ed/RAGING all the time.

sexyring sbk 2014?

I wouldn't be so quick to blame the marshals.  If they are under orders not to do .... unless the Big Blind Eye in their ivory control towers tell them to act, then my god this is ........, almost criminal.  The marshals should have authority to make any call they deem worthy, as they are eyes on the ground.  Btw, RD get a more comprehensive feed than we do on TV, so they 'could' have seen it on their upteen screens, which to me is a hazard if they are the only ones that can make the call.  They have to rely on scanning several screens for action, while the boots on the ground only need to scan their designated area, so of course the marshals are gonna have better reaction time. I say, throw the flag even when in doubt.  Ok, now this is one part, the second part is, why the hell is the wall so close without more robust air fencing?  How did JRea break his leg? If it was the barrier, than in today's day and age, that is criminal.

Baz broke his neck?  ...., that sux.  How did it happened?

Speedy recover to all involved.

Totally unacceptable.  If WSBK has any backbone it wont go back.  Whoever is responsible for the safety at German circuits should be ashamed of themselves.  Hopefully they'll be taking a serious look at their practices.  We get significantly superior care at club races here

I'm sorry Bro' but had I been on that corner when Sandi's kwak spewed its guts!

My yellow would have been a flying without any hesitation!

Fcuk waiting for someone to tell me it is dangerous when it is totally apparent that it is.

It's better to be safe (of keep em safe) than to be sorry IMO ;)
