Everyone is pissed at Livio Suppo

I think its foolish to put Melandri down as a potential world champ and leave Pedrosa out. If Pedrosas riding hasn't convinced you yet i would suggest you are watching the wrong sport.

Don't get me wrong, he's a good rider, but he's always been good in fits and bursts, like Hayden. He just doesn't seem to have the consistency to win it. But that of course is just my opinion.

Not consistent? This season he has only been outside the top 4 on three occasions. He got nocked down in turkey, was having trouble on his spare bike at Donnington, and Michelin were not great in Laguna. Non of these are really excuses but it does help to show just how well, and incredibly consistent he has been. So if Dani is inconsistent in your opinion, the only man who you could feasibly consider consistent is Stoner.

Ok he's consistent, I'll concede that. He's good too and I don't doubt that. But I don't think that he's better than Melandri will be on a Ducati, or than Stoner or Rossi are this year. Last year he was on the podium in less than half of the races, compared to the champion who was on the podium 10 times and outside the top 5 twice. Thats the kind of form you need. I don't even need to go into Rossi's dominance, or Stoner's podium percentages this year. I don't think he'll be able to match Melandri, Stoner or Rossi, and Melandri and Stoner are about his age, so will be around for about as long.

I tend to agree with Israeliracer. I think Pedrosa is a bit like Troy Corser in superbikes in his prime; a technically brilliant and fast rider, and invincible with an early lead on a fast bike but not a real racer. He will only win if HRC have a fairly dominant bike, which admittedly is fairly likely to happen some time in the near future.

I tend to agree with this assessment, and will go further by saying Pedrosa is the new Biaggi....Loads of smaller class talent that never fully translated into a big class championship winning formula.
Dani will win a few races here and there and even podium often, but never win the big class title....

Why? Because he can't fight for position in a race...he doesn't like having to bash fairings with Rossi...and will certianly hate doing it with Melandri and Stoner on Dukes next year....

Cataluyna this year is a perfect example of what I mean....Dani could have been trading paint for position with Rossi and Stoner at the end to fight for the win...Did he? Nope.
And was it Le Mans last year when he finaly had to trade paint with Rossi, and then Dani complianed Rossi was being too rough?
Eitherway Dani hates having to fight for a win, he likes being the rabbit at the dog track...And That is not how you beat the big boys of MotoGP (or the 500s) to win the title.

Tom..please Melandri will give Stoner the biggest "SHOCK" in 2008 that he's ever had...I think Melandri is a great racer...so in saying this...I WANT TO SAY THIS:...Please Casey...and you know what I'm talking about "Don't TRUST MARCO"!!! kick him, make him break 3 ankels, make him whatever Casey!!! BUT WATCH OUT FOR Mr. MARCO...M!!!"...lol..seriousely Marco will be very very competivive on the Ducati...and Mr. Stoner "BETTER WATCH OUT"!!..and this is coming from his greatest FAN!!!

I tend to agree with you! I'm not sure about Melandri ... no doubt he has the ability but there is something about him that says to me that he is always going to be the nearly man! No doubt I'll live to regret saying that but it;s my opinion!

The only other current rider I would throw in the mix is Chris Vermuelen! Yeah, yeah ... I DON'T want to start another aussie supporting an aussie thing as I don't mean it that way! I just thing he has bucket loads of talent! I remember the first interview I heard from Ronald Ten Kate about him ... he said his ability to provide feedback from his bike was better than a machine!

Barry Sheen thought he was the goods ... that is good enough for me!

SO DID HE ABOUT "CASEY"!!! Barry IS A COMPLETE & UTTER "LEGEND"!! LONG LIVE BARRY!!!" WE LOVE YOU BAZZA!!!...

So you're picking Melandri as a potential champ, but leaving off Pedrosa on account of inconsistency?

But Honda had that in 2006 and Pedrobot didn't do it then what makes you think he will do it in the future...last year was his greatest chance!!!...oh it was his first year...I get it...

Gresini doesn't have a leg to stand on. He's cracked if he thinks Ducati are going to talk to him about Melandri. Ducati aren't asking form Melandri's hand in marriage, they're asking him to ride a motorcycle.

Capi on the other hand, has a point. Normally, I would say failed business partnerships are part of the game, but Ducati lured Capi to Ducati with nationalistic sentiments, high pay, and they put emphasis on good team culture and partnerships.

They are obliged to follow through whether they like it or not. If they're not going to coddle Capi the way they said they would, they shouldn't have said it. Pramac is a backhanded slap, not a severence package.

However, Capi does need to put it behind him and go race elsewhere.

As far a Pedrosa and Melandri, both of them intrigue me. We know Stoner can win when he can keep the bike upright, but Pedrosa and Melandri are both big question marks.

Pedrosa has a bike that he had built especially for him and he still can't make it go. I'm convinced that's Honda's fault, but Pedrosa can't ask for more than a custom built ride from Big Red.

Melandri went big in 2005 with consistent riding and 2 wins. In 2006 he won 3. He has the ability to win races, but he didn't seem to be able to string podiums together. Furthermore, he's going to be racing against Stoner on the same equipment. I really can't see anyone, not even Melandri, riding the Ducati better than Stoner does, but he could prove me wrong.

The voice of reason. Its ok to change riders, but Ducati did it with no respect.

The rest of your post was right on.
