I was just thinking about our shortage of British talent in grand prix racing and thinking about what we have for our next generation of riders. I know JT is rumored to be moving over next season, but for the more long term future a lot of hope and expectation is going onto Bradley smith.

That got me thinking, this kid is 16 years old, so if he makes speedy progress through the ranks, it will still be at least 6 years before he makes it to motogp. However Laverty is 20 years old and already riding in 250's. So in the minimum of 6 years it could take Bradley to move up, we will surely also see if Eugene has what it takes or not. If he remains in 250's for 6 years without showing us any motogp potential then fair enough, but as of now, i consider him to be our next hope.

Lets get behind this guy

Sorry to all those who aren't British and/or don't care.

I agree, except I'm pretty sure Laverty isnt representing Britain, when his name comes up on screen it says Ireland..

Yeah i made a mistake at the start
of the season. I was sure i read somewhere he was born in N'ire so
was a bit confused when it came up irish on the tv. Haven't
bothered looking how he does.

With the British 250 championship (btw. They are at silverstone
on sunday) starting again maybe next year there'll be some
talented babies on 250s in britain. Which well help any
possibilities of finding a talent for the
future...perhaps.

True, but I'm not to fussed about that myself. He's as good as British and he cut his teeth in the British championship, so he is still gonna get my support.

Unless he gets an Aprilia, he won't do well in 250.

Did he come second last year in SS600?

2. Did he come second last year in SS600?

1. There is nothing wrong with the top end Hondas, but either way he needs to earn works equipment to get winning.

2. He came third in the title, winning 4 races. Only Crutchlow won more races than him.

Also, i found out he was born in Ballymena up near Belfast and still lives nearby, which would suggest he was British.

Thats strange then, I wonder if its a mistake in the timing, or maybe hes got Southern Irish decendance and actually chooses to represent Ireland? They can do that I think..

Hes allready scored points this year @ uhmm, Jerez was it? So he definately has some promise.. At best, if things go perfectly for him he will be battling with the best of the privateers and worst of the factory riders i.e privateers Ant West and Aleix Espargaro and factory riders Shuhei Aoyama and Marco Simoncelli etc.. I think hes definately one to watch.. Lets just hope he gets every opportunity, unlike some..

Laverty should be aiming at best privateer in the next two years i think.

As long as Ant's there, he'll be second privateer, and thats the truth, unless god manufacturers a miracle and someone actually gives the West man a LEGITIMATE factory ride.. Im not holding my breath

Like rosberg could choose to represent finland but he doesn't: ....!

I better hear some noise for him at Donington, or else I'll be very disappointed.
