Good point.
Reinforced by data:
- Lorenzo won Estoril 2008 going slower than Rossi 2007, by 4 seconds at the end of the race.
- Rossi 2008 was then more than 16 seconds slower than himself 2007.
- Stoner was something like 30 seconds slower...
<

- Pedrobot was more or less the same (no surprise).
<

This puts in perspective (just a little) Lorenzo's victory. He's probably already better than Pedrobot, but not yet on a par with Rossi and Stoner.

The races were slower than last year throughout all classes because the track conditions were not at all favourable. Lorenzo clearly is on a par with Dani, and superior to both Rossi and Stoner so far. But it's a long season and many tests remain, thats why i'm not getting my hopes up just yet for Jorge's title chances.

i wondered the same thing yesterday during the race when toby anf juels answered a question about a wall/fence at indy i asked in a thread the other day. coincidence ?

Pedrosa and Lorenzo don't need to learn to ride in the wet

This is the TC era, people.

There programmers need to learn to ride in the wet.
<

i agree on both points.
i remember rossi and the rain kink barros always battling in the rain and rossi always held is own or won.

that would be Assen in less than 2 weeks

I loved the race, up to the point where lorenzo was so far ahead of pedro and rossi that it got bored, yet again. I HATE the lorenzoflag, if I ever get the chance to cut that flag into small pieces, I will take it with both hands. but other than the flag, I was well impressed with lorenzo
<
my cousin predicted his victory for this race when me and my dad were thinking he was nuts to think so. so I lost yet another bet with my cousin

the part where the electronics where flying out of stoners bike was quite weird to see. just shows once more that the duc's have problems, which is a shame. you start to wonder if ducati was thinking that they were that much superior last year, that they didn't had to continue to develop the 2008 bike. good race for dovi too, quite a deja vu when he was racing behind pedro yet again.

thought the 250cc was much better than the motogp. did you all see the 125cc too, with 'Degraaf'- team getting 4th and 5th position?!

talkin about the start of his career. in the lower cylinder classes. he was not know as a good rain rider.

I am sure you are correct that someone of lorenzo's talent will learn to ride in the rain, although it might take most of a season. A bigger problem is the michelin rain and/or intermediate tyres which still don't look very good going by estoril fp1.

very true on both accounts. michelin have alot of work to do with thier wet rubber.

That amounts to saying that Chupa Chups is already superior to Rossi and Stoner NOW?!?!?!?!
You take my breath away - I credit the young man with the possibility to become the best, but give him some time

Well he has won himself 14 more points than Rossi, won a race, been on the podium all three times and scored 3 pole positions. So far this season that performance is better than Rossi's and even more so Casey's. But as i said the season is long and Jorge has a lot of new experiences coming his way. I will be massively surprised (and absolutely delighted) if he out performs Stoner, Dani or Rossi over a seasons length.

I was wondering why you hated the guy so much ...... and even though he wins so much you still pay out on him....... its because you have one thing you are better at than him!! ..... are a better/much more of a loser than him

<

Just make sure you are down at Donnington heckling him won't you Rog.
<

But seriously anyone can see that its the tyres .... Stoner needs Michelins

And everyone else has so much TC

And they are on better bikes, he is doing it on inferior equipment ..... actually he did a nice repair job on it mid corner at one stage
<
<

He needs a Yamaha ...... actually I think Burgess and the boys would love that.

Maybe Stoner and Rossi should do a sap at the end of the year
<

The sound of a poor loser.^

You got any comments about the race or you just gonna cry foul and whine?

Race Comments:

Congrats to Lorenzo. It seemed just a matter of time before he got that win. Three poles & podiums and its not luck but talent. The only thing that eclipses his talent is his ego; his flag is a bit much for me. So he's in the Talented-Jerks category for me. Lose that personal flag you .........

Peders is making good on championship run. You wouldn't know it from his podium sulking though, what an ....

Rossi rode well enough to put himself in championship contention. He’s the best Bridestones runner so far, I expect him to come into his own soon. He predicted a race win in China during his interview.

Looks like Hopkins & Edwards move to another team is paying off.

Other notables:

Stoner should send Hayden & Dovi flowers.

Hayden had pace but threw away a possible podium. DNFs are championship killers.

Dovi is impressive, but still can't through it away.

Toesland is cool man.
