I couldn't help having flashbacks of Big Kev on Sunday.. It reminded my of Germany 91 the way Elias was pulling passes out of nowhere.. and like Schwantz was a demon on the brakes..

Don't get me wrong, he's not on the same level as Schwantz (not many ever will be) but, you never know, maybe with the right development he could be the Schwantz of the new era?

Until I read the second paragraph I was like "Is this kid drunk or something??"

Very aggressive riding, it was great to watch! Hey, you never know, he's young and has talent, he could very well become a great rider.

half the riders in 125 and 250 fit that descripcion

i don't think we should get carried away with the result from elias - i'll be surprised if he's that dominant at valencia or even the start of next season.

it's always the sasme come contract signing time - suddenly everyone thinks they're schwantz

Agreed. Don't get too carried away. Elias did what he had to do to survive. Great win by Toni and it could well be the start of somthing big, but don't be surprised if it's a one off

You could see Elias just knew his bike was going to do whatever he wanted. A little bit like Schwantz in some ways, but I think if everything isn't 100% with his head and the bike, Elias won't be at the front all the time, good for him going into Valencia though.

Guys, drunk at 6 o clock??

Who do you think I am? George Best?

Nah, I just talk a lotta crap

Maybe or maybe not...

All I want to see is more of that kind of racing from him from now on.

ageed mate - it's all good

seeing races like that reminds me what it's all about.

Yeah, its pure gold when you get to witness a race or any race of that quality once in a while.

matt, go watch motards .... that will give you a fix!

I agree with everyone but I'd like to say that Elias was ultra-motivated in Estoril. It will be hard for him to match that on a regular basis.

The guy has had a disastrous season. His problem is weird: he can't be fast with a full tank and race tyres. Also, from what I saw in 125 cc and 250 cc, he is a quite temperamental rider, pulling phenomenal performances in combination to rather dull ones. A bit like Melandri, don't you think?

Schwantz's fire is still burning in all of us who saw him ride!

More racing like that from everyone would be even better!!!!!
<

Nah, Elías is much crazier than Melandri!

I remember a 125cc race where Lorenzo and Elías were fighting for the win. They were sliding (125's !!!) and banging into each other, the guy in third position didn't dare to get close!
<

damn i wish i watched 125's and 250's a couple of years ago ...

that race woulda been awesome teo.

I don't think I would compare Elias to Schwantz, but I really enjoyed watching him ride around like he was on a dirt track. I especially enjoyed Rossi looking back like saying WTF? when he go passed. I really like that he challenged Rossi and didn't back down, that took heart that some of the other guys lack.

Making a plug:

Wait til Hopper gets a good bike under him, then you will be making new Schwantz comaparisons for a damn good reason!
