According to Spanish media it's over, the team retires from the championship. The reason they give is that the main sponsor can't support the team any longer due to the economical crisis.

One less bike on the grid, sucks.

Good news cos i hate gibbers
Bad news having one less bike on the grid. If Suzuki pull out too motogp are in trouble ! I thought there contract was up in 2010 but read somewhere in this forum it may be 2011. Anyone confirm ?

Well they may be out but does that mean Sete will be gone? WHo knows in this crazy time of GP. I think we could still see him with a new sponsor. There has to be some new teams coming into the fray or we won't have a real season to watch. This sucks!!!

I don't think Sete was in any condition to compete over a full MotoGP season. He was away for too long and his age wasn't helping him. I'm guessing riding a Duc also wasn't any help either.

I'm not sure what his 'goal' was by coming back. He had to have known that he was probably going to be more towards the back of the pack.

are they going to finish the season out?
man this really sucks Moto gp is hitting Crisis mode, with Hayate pulling out next year its not looking good. Carmelo better get his .... together real quick or next year there might be 10 bikes on the grid

Dorna have now demonstrated what Kenny Roberts Snr has exhorted us to believe for years, that there is more than sufficient funding in the coffers to cough up and bankroll a team as they were forced to do with Hayate this season. It's not as if the grid is burgeoning to the extent of WSBk - they simply can't afford not to divert funds to address this crisis, and lend/divert support to struggling non factory franchises. They should have worked tirelessly on the back of Valentino's incredible commercial appeal to strengthen the series, and attract diverse sponsorship, but the focus is myopic, and oriented to immediate profit as opposed to securing the longevity and sustainability of the series. This championship - let's remind ourselves....the supposed premier motorcycle racing series on the planet, will not survive a rerun of the Doohan years.

YEha he has become somewhat of a superstar so far. He has been busted up for the better part of both seasons and he just keeps going and going. I like him and think he is going to be a contender for quite some time. I would love to see him win the whole thing before Pedrosa. If pedders does anything he needs to get rid of Puig. I suspect he wouldn't be such a .... then. I think the last race he showed a bit of sunshine where ususally he is a rainy day. Here is hope for the little guy.

Great post as usual. And to add to this, King Kenny warned Dorna that satellite sponsors need to get air time (not just the popular front runner) for their add dollars to make sense. Looks like they haven't learned their lesson. It must be frustrating for the passionate team owners who will do anything to race, and have to go to the leg word to get sponsors on board, only for Dorna to give them a big .... off in coverage. Now they will need to scramble for another few bikes otherwise the grid will look more anorexic than it already looks. They could have solved this if they marketed and gave more attention in coverage time for these sponsors whose goal it was to get airtime. The sponsors might have known going in that their teams would be back markers, but that doesn’t mean they had to show logos on the bikes a mere 3 seconds over an hours worth of coverage. It’s just ....... stupid to treat deep pockets this way. Just like Cali Kid’s less than memorable experience after forking over a month’s wages (value of the ticket) where they could have done a 10 minute meet ad greet and that would have gone a long way for people to ante up again and again. Now look what we have, the word is getting out and Dorna now needs to look for new suckers to invest.

Well I remember Dorna taking down videos from Youtube, not only theirs too. Dorna should give them out for free, so that millions would watch the ‘Sponsors Ads’ on the bikes and tracks for every single bike and Sponsor out there. Which by the way are who pay the big bills for more teams to step in!

How about TV coverage main screen with the leaders and little screens to show a couple of back dog fights too!

Yes, and everything for Free from past races once the new FPs and race is on! Sponsors not only need Live, they could pretty much do past a week or two!

Dorna are idiots me thinks!

wow 2010 is going to look grim, onde out now and hayate end of this season that will be 2 bikes less
<

i hope the dorna circus have a serious plan cos they tossed motogp on the fire and slowly its turning to ashes...

surely now its the perfect time in this economic crysis to go back to the old formula or strip the current machines of most of there electronic marvel? isnt that what sends costs sky high? either would save money in the long run.

i mean things like todays aircraft/jets NEED sophisticated electronics for pilots to fly them but bikes DONT NEED sophisticated electronics for people to ride them....

WE could have been enjoying motogp alot more now with alot more teams if they hadnt of ...... things up.

the only thing holding the dorna house of cards up are the combination of Rossi Stoner and Lorenzo! If by some miracoulous way an SBK team gatherd the money to lure one of these boys away That diffenetly would be the end of Dorna and Moto Gp. Dorna has to step it up and bring in some big names to Sponsor the satelite bikes for the Rookies like Ayoma and Bautista.
