motogp is on the way up & up & up. fnone is stale & just 1 of many car racing series...yawn

. also were talkin bike fans here. it's an east coast round, very inportant i think so it should get a good crowd. even if the race is improperly promoted. i think it'll do fine just by word of..... the internet. .... anybody who is into bike racing here or are northern brothers in canada have probably allready started makin plans for this event already! everybody already knows!!!

Lets face it everything in the USA is Bush league when compared to Europe, including Laguna.
<
I have seen high schools with better grand stands.

It will be interesting to see what the riders think of this track. But the city is a great place to see a race. Indy does not have the "Cool"
<
factor of Southern Cal but it is good from spectator stand point and it's the only place the has close to world class facilities.

You will have a city that opens it arms to race fans unlike So Cal that view motorcyclist as a nuisance. People who live near the track will let you camp in there yard. Just outside the city there are really nice camp grounds that are dirt cheap. Getting to the track has always been hassle free for me (first F1 event). When I went I camped about 20 miles from the city. Race day we drove strait in to the track parked 15 minutes from the track on a city street, free. Totally hassle free. Remember this is a city that knows how to pull off an event that used to a quarter of a million people.

Many great viewing spots from inside the track.

centrally located near major populations ( chicago,Cin,Mem,St lou etc). I know I have several friends who may be going to this race who would never drop the $$ to go the So Cal.

The potential for a great event is there. Lets just hope it works out.

I know I plan on being there.

i don't think that'll be the track configuration for the bikes r. it'll probably run counter clockwise & won't be useing any of the oval. think their going to make more infield track? we'll see soon enough!

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (bojuhl @ Jul 5 2007, 11:41 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}><div class='quotemain'>it's the only place the has close to world class facilities.
miller has em also.

There is no way the oval will be used due to safety regulations! And Indy without the oval is a very boring track indeed. I hope it doesn't go there at all!

You have to be supremely ignorant to think that even though F1 is stagnant that more less people are interested in it than MGP.

If the F1 got crap advertising, Moto gp at Indy will barely be advertised.

Is this ....... insane?!?!? Wihtout the part of the oval to go on the track would probably be like 1 mile long at best also, there is no way the safety comission will have the riders go down that straight, theres a damn wall to the left that people could probably hit going 180+. They are gonna have to spend millions of dollars to past any safety inspections.

I hope Rossi says no since he is on the safety commission also it sounds worse (safe wise)than Suzuka which is a 10000 times infinity better circuit!

Its funny to read all the Indy bashing. Oh well, I'm making plans to go. I full expect and believe it will be a great event. Just like Laguna Seca.

Can't believe the talk of Istanbul going for this piece of pus circuit. Now that would really suck!

.... Ill be at Laguna and Indy next year but I cannot even imagine what Indy will have to do to meet safety regulations.

Cool man, see you there.

As far as safety, they will work it out or there won't be racing there, so I'm not worried.

Oh, continue jealous tirade below.

Haha, that is exactly what they said about Mugello (with that monster straight). Remind me who won? Oh and Stoner didn't even make the podium. Yeah, I guess this "fastest bike" thing is a bunch of hogwash.

RJ I guess maybe it sounds like I'm bashing, but in all honesty I feel like another race here in the States should have gone to Elkart Lake (Road America), I know some changes have been made there for safety, still not sure it would pass rider scrutiny, but that venue would be so much better for a MotoGP race. I've got my fingers crossed that Indy will be a good event and it gets the promotion it deserves so that more fans will thirst for MotoGP or Motorcycle racing in general.

The fact is, the majority of Americans will think of two places instantly when you talk to them about racing, Daytona and Indianapolis. The Daytona 500 and the Indy 500 are their two biggest events of the year (I'm not a big fan of the first one, but I love the Indy 500), so if you take the show to their garden and put it under their noses, they might just take notice. Coupled with good TV coverage, we might just win a few more fans in the US.

It didn't work for F1, but thats because F1 is in a sorry state at the moment

Oh ,I agree. My vote actually would have been for Miller. But that's to west. So yes, Elkart or Barber. I'm just happy another one will be in the US, that's all I'm really cheering about buddy. I think they will do alright though, lets hope for the best, hope to see you there.
