Why do they need a pneumatic valve this season? In this season their old spring-valve design is quite superb. If not mistake, they have a special material for their spring-valve (patented pending) so they don't blow up in high revs.
I think it is a little bit risky to use pneumatic in this season. Remember Yamaha in Misano 2007?
Maybe they should give more further test in the dyno and bring the new parts next year.

I agree with you. They can't afford to take any risk especially when the season is running. Next year maybe..

i vote yes. things move fast in motogp. if ducatis new gp9 appears and is faster than the gp8 honda will need this straight away. what i want to no is , what does yamaha have up there sleeve ?

AFAIK, they are still working on a direct injection engine which is more economical than the current pneumatic engine ,and will produce 10% more power when it can run at the current M1`s revs. Maybe after Catalunya Rossi will receive a major upgrade bike.

Totally agree. HRC is focused on Dani winning and if Dani cannot ride or does not feel safe on the new bike then HRC won't swap over to a new engine.

since when have HRC listened to what their rider says, in the past years when Rossi rode for them their attitude was that the rider was just another component of the bike and they would do as they were told, Rossi only got away with what he did because he was Rossi.

Do you remember the 'monkey on the back' stunt! just before he signed for Yamaha.

I wouldn't be suprised to see Dani with a new engine in the near future. They obviously haven't got it working properly yet but once they've got the bugs ironed out they will change it, they won't want to get left behind, and the pneumatic engine does seem to be the way forward.

I don't want Dani to get it because it will just make it easier for him to clear off... if Rossi starts from down the grid

HRC won't have pneumatic valve engine this year, maybe next year bcoz don't need (only Hayden wants it) and can't afford to have. HRC is only interested in Dany to beat Rossi M1 and not Casey Duc.

Ignorance is bliss. Honda can't afford it
<
?? They don't need it
<
<
?? At the current rate Dani will not beat Rossi everyone knows that. He needs a bike to really let him clear off in the distance. If he is caught at all behind anyone kiss that race goodbye. They need the pneumatics to keep up. Obviously the Yamaha and Ducati have plans to move even further ahead. You think that Honda want to be left that far behind?

I can't think of any particular reasons for HRC not to have the pneumatic valve while others have:

1) So if HRC has it why dont they give to Hayden even if dani don't want? Or HRC is for Dani not for Hayden
<
. HRC is not that stupid..
2) Of course HRC and Dany need the pneumatic engine to beat Vale M1, but at what risk? With unproven engine and chassis
<
just like last year M1..

HRC will have someone doing testing on the new engine somewhere in the back ground. Do you realise that Honda haven't made any major breakthroughs with their machines since Rossi left.
<

They've just very slowly slipped backwards, apart from the odd little spurt from Dani. I don't think that will continue.

Do you remember the end of 2005 when Honda gave Nicky and Melandri the new 2006 spec bike with the high crank V-5. That bike was pretty good.

Too bad they played politics, they probably could have swept the top 5 in 2006.
