Headline. Capirossi: My dream is to race 1000's again. Is it just me, or would you expect to read an article that went over the merits of the 990, why its his dream to race them again. The headline should have read, "Capirossi hopes to be in GP in 2012". I guess you could say its his dream to race the 1000'sbecause that means he will be in the series another 2 years

Yea, I was bummed when I read the article, thinking he would comment on the upside of 1000cc racing etc.

When we do get these beasts back, are they going to be tuned down so much it only makes sense to keep racing an 800cc? I do hope they come out with a package that makes sense and we see the big bore bikes back on the grid in force.

In all honesty, how does everything think the current crop of MotoGP racers will fare on more powerful bikes? I think it's obvious that Rossi, Hayden, Capi, Edwards, Pedrosa, Melandri, and Spies would be alright, but how about the rest?

If anyone thinks that a 2012 1000cc bike will even resemble a 2006 990cc bike they are dreaming. There will be no sliding, there will be no multiple line corners there will be no squaring it up and blasting out of a corner. Why? 21 litres. The 800's have more than enough power to do all those things but they can not be ridden like that and make it to the finish.

There is no need to change the capacity just chuck more fuel at it and give em 12 engines per season and maybe add more weight.

And .... can traction control. The fastest way thru a corner is still on a rail, not sideways

Higher capacity will allow the manufacturers to run at lower engine speeds which should save money in the long run (though the redesign won't be cheap).

I tend to agree though. Why bother with the 1000cc masquerade if we aren't going to be treated to the "1000cc racing" we have seen in WSBK or 990cc MotoGP?

I've said time and time again, the fuel restriction is stupid. Someone tell me again why they restrict the fuel on board?

Your probably right. The days of balls out riding has gone. Now it's all about management of fuel and now engines

b/c the MSMA are in love with the fuel regs.

Fuel regulations are a very complicated way to control power output without specifying a bunch of engine dimensions. Fuel economy allows the big manufacturers to beat up on the little manufacturers.

Pov, when you got a series that starts off so excruciatingly slow as does GP, they are bound to be looking for non-news ........ articles to fill up space.

Agreed, and the ....... volcano made it even slower. That has always been the one thing that bothered me about bike racing, is the time in between. I also hate that stupid ... summer break. They should race every other weekend and have a 20 race schedule.

They should race every other weekend and have (AT LEAST) a 20 race schedule - unlimited fuel consumption AND unlimited # of engines

unfortunately here in the US we have NASCAR about every weekend..... talk about .... (there's that word again Rog

). I would love to see MotoGP or any form of motorcycle racing every other weekend. Fortunately for me there are good Supercross/Motorcross races on most weekends.
