Damn, he was doing so will running in 6th to 8th place then suffers a mechanical. Who is this .... commentator on motor tv? Why couldn't we get Scott Russel aswell?
Jesus, how bad must a commentator be if your wishing for Scott Russell.
Finally finished watching all of the race action.
Pascarella has improved immensely in a short period of time. After the incident with Benny, I didn't really want Pascarella to take the win, but he rode almost flawlessly, and he was fortunate to find a backmarker during the final drag to the line. Beaubier, Cardenas, and DiSalvo also rode well, but the pace of the Triumph appears to be a bit much. If the Triumph advantage is aero, maybe the bike will be an even match at other venues. The amount of young talent in American road racing is so high, it's almost depressing. In the current industry environment, they will have difficulty earning paychecks and finding rides. The AMA is going to need a major injection of cash from sponsors who care about developing young talent (Monster and Red Bull fit the bill). If sponsors are not forthcoming, much of the AMA's talent will be lost to Europe.
In SBK, Herrin is exceeding my expectations. He still rides 600cc lines, but he is able to stay with the leaders early in the races. Hayes looks much stronger this year than last year, which could be down to Graves Yamaha getting their electronics package in order. I don't think Young is going to have anything for him this season, but I hope Young proves me wrong. RLH rode very well. Pegram exceed my expectations. Rapp has proven that the Kawasaki is a viable platform. Unfortunately, SBK is missing Tommy Hayden, but a replacement at the front will not be easy to find.
Respect to Elena Myers for winning her second AMA Pro Event.
Its really hard to tell what kind of young talent there is. Even Scott Russell said what ive been saying, a lot of guys are comfortable running the pace that DSB has to offer. Are they really that talented, are they capable of going 2-3 seconds faster on better machinery.. As far as the race Disalvo made a mistake. He was over a second a lap faster than the field, but hung with the pack after he caught them, fully expecting to blow on by with a draft move. He should have kept his head down and used his 1 plus second a lap advantage to try and pull away in the last couple laps
Russell is talking about the difference between 600s and 1000s. Zemke won an FX crown (more sophisticated than WSS), but he's never been much of an SBK rider. Sofuoglu wins WSS routinely, but he can't handle 1000cc SBKs. The state of tune in DSB is not really a problem. The cream can still make its way to the top.
As horsepower goes up, the sport changes. Some riders adapt. Some riders are stuck with the skills/lines they learned on smaller machines.
No, that was not what he was talking about. He was talking about how many riders were capable of winning DSB races because they were comfortable with the pace.
You couldnt be more wrong abour Zemke, he was an excellent Superbike rider, who beat Mladin on occasion during his rein of terror on the AMA. You obviously got him mixed up with someone else.
No. I obviously archived AMA Pro results on Wikipedia for the 2004-2008 seasons. Zemke scored 3 wins in 4 seasons at American Honda, and he was beaten by his teammate every season except 2007, when he was riding with James Ellison. Zemke is much better on middleweight bikes.
Massive thanks to Levigarett for letting us crash at his house. Just wish you could have been there too !
Levi, what's it like in Soft Tails ?
I dont have to Google search to determine if Zemke was an excellent Superbike rider, i was there. Try going to a race instead of trying to impress people with your Goggle skills.
I didn't have to use google to find out he won 3 races in 4 years with American Honda. I archived the information that google gave to you so you could see how few races Zemke won in his 4 year stint at American Honda and how average his results were. You can say you went to the races all you want. I don't think you were paying much attention.
Zemke's world class skills on a 600cc motorcycle do not translate to SBK. That was the point of the discussion.
