Most notably Barros at Mugello and Capirossi at Sachsenring----those were the two places they actually worked.
I wouldn't be at all surprised to find out the old 990 tires never went out of production; especially since the 2007s were not good in extreme heat and not everyone could ride them. When they did work; however, the 07s were unstoppable.
I think it's probably likely that they had plenty of 990 material lying around. I'm sure they make blank carcasses before attaching the compounds. It seems likely they could have had plenty carcasses remaining.
