Coming Changes To Fuel Regs in MotoGp

MotoGP, like Formula one will switch to sustainable fuels. From 2024, 40% of fuel for the MotoGP class must be derived from sustainable sources using synthetically produced sustainable energy or non-food biomass. From 2027, all fuel used in all three classes, Moto3, Moto2, and/or MotoGP, will be of non-fossil origin.

So… non-food biomass meaning not recycled french-fries oil. McDonalds and Wendy’s won’t be supplanting Shell. Very interested to know what they plan to burn that will create substantially less carbon emissions.

Nothing burns greater than the hopes and dreams of Valentino Rossi fans from 2010 through 2021. There's enough angst to power the series into 2100.

I guess it will be ethanol, but interesting to know how that can be sustainably produced.

I think this is very interesting. I'm not sure electric vehicles are the answer. The lithium mining alone, from what I understand, is not only unsustainable but also very harmful.

I know hydrogen fuel cell vehicles can work, though they do use an electric motor.
