Carlos and Casey tangle at motegi

A little surprised that nothing has been said of Casey's unreasonable reaction, although it wasn't as aggressive of dangerous as Hopkins attempt, it was more unfounded and still hasn't got a place on the circuit.

i agree tom, and there was a discussion about it on another thread mate.

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(Racejumkie @ Sep 22 2007, 06:31 AM) <div class='quotemain'>
Stoner may want to come down from his pedal stool, "hes not the only one on the track."

Guess what, he has to share, just like everybody else.

nicely put jumkie.

What?!?!? The Hopkins incident was not as bad as this. Stoner kicked at the bike just like hopkins but also flipped him off and shook his fist at Checa. Well I guess no fine for the new champ. Too bad I lost respect for him this weekend and know that he will be a one hit wonder.

I must be the only one who thinks Casey is in the right here, plus a but of attitude never hurt anyone, I'd be f'kin livid.

This isnt the first time Checa has been dodling around on a slow lap.....he's the one who should be fined.

What if Casey has clipped Checa, ala Kurtis / Melandri @ Laguna, then Casey got injured........wouldnt be good.

And those that think he's being "whiney" or "young"..........get a grip, this is the pinnacle of bikesport racing, and he's on the verge of taking the world title.

If you havnt been in his boots, how the hell can someone make judgements? Seriously, way to many people underestimate psycology in motogp.

Casey has been ice cool all season, withstood tremedous pressure in the early season..........the pressure must be immense, he's been working for this all his life.............not just this season, since he started racing.

A bit of pit box aggression is good.........

i disagree.
making a little gesture of your anger towards another racer is one thing but kicking out and shaking fists is unexcepable at this level.
what if all the riders started doing this, where would it lead. im loads of punch ups. second thoughts, mabe that aint such a bad thing to spice it up a bit
<

hopper and lorenzo got fined for it and so should stoner, and as for whinner, he sure was whinning about being followed around the track according to eurosport team.

Rog, think back to when you last lost your temper..............then compare it to what Stoner is having to deal with.

We are humans, not robots............these guys are on the limit each weekend for our enjoyment, anger & passion go hand in hand..............giving Carlos "Slow Lane" Checca the bird through the tunnel was class.

This wasn't pit box aggression, it took place on the track. I see no harm in flipping the bird or pointing to your head to tell the other guy think but kicking and swinging towards another rider should be a fineable offense. If he felt that strongly about it he SHOULD have met Checa back in the pits and thrown a few. Just because someone doesn't agree with you doesn't mean they underestimate psycology in motogp. I have know doubt he will win the title but the Iceman approach he has shown this year had a slight crack in it the past few sessions. He is the one who said he was feeling less and less pressure as the season closed so it's only natural for fans of other riders to notice this stuff.

i appreciate that he is a human bloke just like me mate,
how did you look on the incident where beckham kicked out at another player in the world cup and got sent off mabe causing england to loose. truth is most of us would react the same way but we still looked on and shouted wnker at the tv . why ? because we no there supposed to be above that and there pay would indicate that.
sticking the fingers up imo is fine, kicking out is not, shacking fists is border line.
one day we may go to watch a gp and find it's now like a football match because of the sort of message this could give off about the sport if it became common place. football players have been accused of doing just that.

I know it took place on the track, I watched it! When I made the reference about the pit box, was talking about the attitude when he came off the bike.

Aggression is good.............or maybe they should all have tea and crumpets, and sing ring a ring of roses togther?

Anyone here had road rage before? I have - plenty of times on the bike when someone pulls out on you, how many times have I shook my fist or given a car a good kicking when out.........plenty of times.

Us humans have this thing called addrenalin.........people will AUTOMATICALLY fight or flight in a situation............

Yeah, thats what I said
<
I think you missed the part where I said he should have gone back to the pits and punched him out if he felt like it. You think kicking while on the course is a good thing for motogp, I don't, so we will agree to disagree. Aggression is good but the way it's displayed can be a finable offense.

fright or flight is a natural response but can be trained out, you dont see professional fighters running away as a first response.
road rage can be a first response with some drivers but rarely with professionals drivers.
stoner hopper and to a degree lorenzo are at the top of there game so should act in an almost un-human way because there experience should have trained out this sort of initial response. take it up in the paddock not the track.
mabe we are to hard on these guys when they act up, its funny how nobody's bothered if a 125 rider does it but if its a motogp guy it seems different.

I can't comment on the incident as I haven't seen it! I do hope however that Casey is aggressive when the lights turn green in 6 hours time ... can't wait!

Sorry mate, I read what you wrote I was just generalising not directing that at you
<

Anyway - let the racing do the talking - I think Stoner is sandbagging and we are gonna have a proper battle in 5 hours time!
<

I'll agree with that! The racing takes care of itself. Off to have a nice Italian meal, a few drinks and back for the races. I like this Asian time zone thing.

Please, I just saw the flash video. Stoner wasn't nearly as close as Hopper was. You might be able to argue it was unsportsmanlike but it wasn't dangerous.

The last person to deal with Checa's poor qualifying etiquette was Hopkins. Perhaps Hopkins qualifying position indirectly facilitated the unfortunate incident in turn 1.

Obviously, his antics didn't help the situation in any way, but the enemy of my enemy is my friend, so I hope they don't do anything to him.

Ok, I give up, is it on Youtube or anywhere as I haven't seen it?

But, I have no problems with a rider showing aggression or even venting their frustration with another's actions provided it does not endanger themselves or other innocent parties.

But, there is a time and place (ask Rossi vs Biaggi) and the middle of a track may not be the right place.

As I said I have not seen it but what if others came screming around the track and happenned upon these two discussing what to have for dinner?

Was this a possibility in the incident (genuine question here) or were they well off line?

Unfortunately what it does is detract from Stoner's impeccable behaviour most of the year (note behaviour Roge as we differ on the whining part
<
). However he is not the first nor will he be the last to act in this manner whether it be ontrack or off.

It has to be remembered that all of these guys are highly strung, supremely fit athletes with mammoth egos and sometimes they will crack.
