Bautista did better at finishing races than Loris did on the Suzuki.....and he is a rookie wth his first year on a 4 stroke.



The Suzuki was better with Hopkins and CV.....and went backwards once Capirossi took the development role.



Loris is done and that Ducati ride is a wasted seat for a better rider.

Loris got whooped on the duck last time he was riding one, isn't that part of the reason why he left because he wasn't getting results.



What's changed now that he will get results? The bike was good enough to win when he was there and he helped develop it.



I fully agree with FACTORY on this.

I can't help but think the Suzuki will go backwards without Capi on it. As for Ducati well done Capi belongs on a Duc!

Short memories - Loris was strong on the 990 Duc and could have been a WC contender if Gibernau hadn't taken him out. I'm looking forward to seeing him back on a Ducati and even more to seeing him back on a 1000 with reduced electronics.

I can think of something... If you were not an alien would you rather ride Stoner's bike or Rossi's. Bikes setup by Rossi tend to be smooth and easy to ride, and we all know what people who know think of Stoner's riding and how easy it is to get on with his bike.

Suzuki stopped investing in development, that's the reason for the zero results -- the only investment they made since 2008 has been Loris Capirossi, i.e. a very modest investment. CV was still there with Capi and was performing worse than his older teammate. Capirossi may be ripe for retirement, but he is unlikely to be the reason for the failure of a MotoGP team...

I think that Capi is stoked about going back to Ducati since the bikes will be back at 1000cc's in another year. So it may not be the most progressive season with the 800's last year for Loris but you never know. The bikes have changed I am sure quite a bit since he had been on the Duc so he could get on one and feel right at home. But with Suzuki I don't think he was the reason they didn't do so well. I think they just don't care about GP a whole lot and to be honest I wouldn't doubt if they were given the chance to step out of motogp they would do it right away. Take a look how many bikes were imported to the US last year from Suzuki and there is your answer for a racing budget that doesn't do a whole lot other than to be visable to the public.
 
On the gpone site he talked about developing a new frame,but only Bautista is using it,Suzuki sais they can't afford giving it to him.

I guess he got tired of being the Suzuki racedepartment himself along with the guys in his team.Maybe Suzuki had planned to run a one-bike-team one year short of their contract already when they got Bautista for 2 years.

I'm glad for Loris that it is over anyway.

I think he is going to like the new 800bike he only rode it one year,as it is probarbly very much improved in a way that suits him too.

Except that it's still seems hard to get it turning sometimes,as i know he talked about in 07.Maybe Rossi on the factorybike can fix that then.

I bet he is happy to go to a bike that Rossi/Burgess with be will be heading. It will be easier to blame someone else if things don't work out well. I think you are right...he got tired of being the developer and having to take the heat for the lack of progress. Also Capirossi knew Suzuki did not have a budget close to the other teams going into it (and he kept on resigning with them!!!)...so i don't know why he thought he could go in a change the world on a Suzuki.

capirossi back to ducati looks to me hes going to be a test mule for new ideas from burgess and rossi in the factory team.



guy may be a bit of a spent force raceing wise but he knows his onions and will offer a good opinion on set up and new parts that they don't want to test on vale or nicky. and on the flipside the satalite team will get greater factory support to help with a very tight budget

As for his results, well, I've never been the biggest fan of Capirex, but I think there's still life in the old dog yet. I'd expect him to at least match the results Barros and Elias have generated for the team in past years; solid top ten results, the occasional top five--and maybe he'll finally snag that elusive 100th career podium, so he can finally retire.

with the grid shrinking every day and the chance of the aliens having a crap season like this year....2011 will be his best shot!!

I don't think he gets much critisism for the lack of progress,he can tell them what qualities are better or worse but he is not designing the parts.

But i agree with you that it seems strange to resign with them when not so much progress happened the years before.I don't know anything about what was being said on their negotiations so..
