Brno 1000cc MotoGP Testing

I agree with this. False sense of security is a good strategy just now. I think Stoner has been deploying the same strategy the last few rounds.

Not to quibble - but I suspect it's not a question of sandbagging per se, so much as an absence of showboating.

A more mature Stoner is so supremely confident that he only does the minimum in practice sessions.

I wonder if those 1000cc bikes will be able keep similar lap times during actual races, when they will have to complete race distance with just 21 liters of fuel...

HRC says yes - they say the bikes will not need to run as much rpm and can run taller gearing, both of which will help fuel efficiency.

I don't think I've ever seen Valentino Rossi arrive at a test so early in the morning as he did yesterday at Brno. He then did over 75 laps on the 800. Most of the attention seemed to be on radical adjustments to chassis geometry and it's easy to assume that there were some equally radical stiffness differences being experimented with. Rossi's Friday comment about raising the handlebars being responsible for the improvement is clearly disingenuous. When you drop the forks as far as they'll go through the yokes, then add extensions so you can drop them some more there is a fighting chance you'll have to move the bars up, so that much is true. Misinformation or not, finding a third of a second, as Rossi and his crew did, on a circuit that demands so much of the front end of the bike is remarkable. He is well on his way to being able to race with Spies, Dovi and Simoncelli. On Monday it also looked as if Nicky was very happy with his first contact with the 11.1 Desmosedici. Things are still pretty hideous for the satellite teams though. Julian Ryder

Only one of the 4 Italians says that he is not planning on going to Motegi, and I'd guess that he is the one-eared rabbit man.

Rossi is determined to go. He wants to to get bit by a radioactive spider

in hopes that he develops Stoner-like skills that will allow him to podium

on the Ducati (which is already a genetic deviant).

Rossi is the only Italian top rider not riding for a Japanese manufacturer, that's the only reason why he's more outspoken than others.

Good point. Besides it would save Ducati wear and tear on equipment and make for one less depressing weekend for Rossi

Its a good thing ur always here to translated Rossis words and actions. Hey, maybe he was 'joking' when he said he wasnt going to Japan, eh?

Most of Rossis success has neen on Jap bikes, so being outspoken now thats hes on the dream Italian machine is a bit dastardly if thats his reason for being outspoken.

I honestly think Rossi is "scared" to go to Japan. A part of me feels sorry for him. Seriously. These guys spent all their lives at the track. Im thinking they prob dont understand all the particulars of radiation. Hell neither do i. Its just that im going with the word of those scientific officials saying its safe. But if i was a millionaire, i would hire an independent firm, take a measurement, and see if its safe. Cant Rossi, Stoner, & Lorenzo do that?

Which part bro? U talking about Julian Ryder's suggestion that they may hav turned a blind eye to suspect riding cuz hes being favored?

Or Rossis assesment that hes the next big thing?

I think the kid is amazing. Anyway, i agree with both assesments.
