Stoner just set a 1.56.260 on the Honda 1000. That's over 0.3s faster than Pedrosa's pole position

Are there streams etc for this anywhere?

I'd like to know the current engine usage. Would changing engine this late in the piece hurt Yamaha?

As of 1PM....check it out - Spies and JLo are omnipresent

Wonder if anyone can cack the 1:55's?

Sounds pretty awesome, too. Thanks, Kropotkin.

me thinks stoners now sandbaggin for the rest of the test.... very very good sign when you can rip out a 1:56.2 on your 8th lap

I'm happy the new 1000s are on track, but testing is difficult to interpret. Are the teams working on race simulation? Or are they running flat out with no fuel computers as if it were qualifying? Gamesmanship is important as well. When Honda tested the 800 at Mugello after the race, Casey was over 1 second quicker IIRC. A performance increase of that magnitude makes me suspect that Honda were trying to mess with Ducati. In other words, they turned off the fuel computer, eliminated the 19,000rpm rev limit (Rossi's claim not mine), and then tried to intimidate Ducati with the true performance of the RC212V.

Looking at the times, I think Ben was the most predictable improvement. I suspect he will collect poles and front row starts next season since fuel isn't a concern in qualifying. Dani is the surprise to me. He was so excited about the 1000s, but he still hasn't broken the 1:57 barrier.

i'm in hopes that the bikes are psychically bigger at least 990 sized.. would be good for Spies, Rossi, etc..especially Simo who looks like a circus bear on a tricycle riding the 800

Agreed, he's going to be a consistent challenger for poles (that's assuming Yamaha is working under race settings and not Q, but I think that's a reasonable assumption at this stage), but I'm very concerned about fuel restrictions with these bikes. I would think getting them home is going to be a chore with 25 percent more capacity than the already fuel-deprived 800s, but will be even more difficult for larger riders like Simoncelli, Spies, Rossi, and Hayden.
