British Superbikes

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (Tom @ Feb 28 2007, 03:45 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}><div class='quotemain'>As far as predictions go, my money is on Leon all the way. Hes the man, but those hondas will be seriously tough to beat. As for the Byrne and Walker thing, i expect wins from them, but i am not convinced they will be title challengers.

cant wait to see Leon out on the track!, this years BSB is gonna be awesome

So, i read today that the Virgin Yamaha team have been testing at croft and Tommy Hills been going pretty damn quick.

Does anybody believe that Yamaha could finally have made a decent superbike, and that the Pirelli tires can cut it with Dunlop and Michelin??

well tom if wsbk & ama sbk are anything to go by i'd say no at this point.

i would say the Haga/Corser R1 was pretty f'kin ok. (although i'm not sure how much difference there is between BSB & WSB tuning regs ???)

the pirelli thing is another matter tho

tommy did pretty well on the BSB R1 against the WSB boys at brands so the bike must have plenty of spunk - makes you wonder why they are so ..... in BSB

Leon haslem is a bit of a beast!!!!!!!!!!!

BSB is good but it doesnt compare to WSB or moto gp!!!
it not as exciting.

i would disagree with you there - last season was awesome.

granted the circuits mght not be a glamorous but last year went down to the wire - BSB is the best domestic championship in the world - period.

look at this and tell me it's not exciting.......

Wrong sport I think .. And im pretty sure the comment 'BSB is the best domestic championship in the world - period' is quite one eyed and biased (as usual from you poms) What about the spanish championships, or the AMA, didnt the latter produce our latest GP world champion? Wheres the champions coming from BSB? Anyone? James Ellison? Dean Ellison (being outpaced by his rookie 20 year old teammate, whose never ridden a SBK before, Luca Morelli in testing, how embarresing)?

i think you'll find i'm refering to your ;

comment.

i don't deny that the UK currently has hardly set moto gp alight recently but i think you'll find the racing in BSB is close, the circuits are exciting and there's some world class riders

or in other words - IT'S EXCITING

World superbike riding is at a higher level to british superbikes, but its the world championship so that is to be expected. However BSB has a higher level of manufacturer support, more exciting tracks, an actual tire competition and some thrilling racing. As far as other domestic championships go, none hold the weight of a BSB crown, and the riders in the series are some seriously quick experienced guys. Look out for Kiyo and Haslam coming to a world championship near you!!

can't wait for the season to begin. my saturdays or whatever day will be focused on itv if its still on there this year prob is.

who's going then ?

I'll be there so keep your eyes out for a big fat skinhead wearing a black Rugby shirt with "walker" & a big #9 on the back

say hello and i'll buy you a beer.

i'm heading down just for saturday just to see the superbikes round the grand prix section, not seen bikes out there before!!

Well i spent the day at brands yesterday and it was excellent throughout. The superbikes are looking fast, and boy is it tight at the top. Byrne was looking seriously fast and Rea was easily the smoothest guy out there. Now i cannot wait for the racing to start tomorrow, although Haslam wasn't as fast as i had hoped.

Also worth mentioning that the brands hatch is a truly incredible piece of tarmac and one of the most beautiful circuits in the world anywhere. Its far better than any other circuits in the country so anyone in britain should make there way over there asap. Anyone not in the uk should book flights pretty quickly.
