Bridgestone to favour Rossi in 2008?

Could Bridgestone favour Rossi over Stoner this year?

If Rossi wins the championship, they could claim that it was down to the tyres. ie. Rossi on Michelin in '07 = 3rd, Rossi on Bridgestone in '08 = 1st.

Surely it would be a marketing dream for them...

There development started with Ducati so they will be always be special.

Rossi winning is good for business but with a split garage hes just gonna be one of the other riders on their tyres.

There's really no way to know. Bridgestone will probably say they provide the same support to all their top riders. If Rossi wins he'll thank them, but no doubt the world will put it all down to his ability. If he loses he could say that Stoner received better support due to him being the world champion. If Stoner loses he can say they gave Rossi more support due to him being better for marketing. It's fun to guess tho. :/

this is funny as hell. stoner fan making excuses for him already. they will get the same treatment imo.

Bridgestone will do what any supplier does at this level, the best they can with everyone they supply. It won't matter who they win with as long as they're winning. It's stupid to try and put a Rossi vs Stoner spin on it.

I agree. I think the bridgestones are more generic anyway.

I don't think Bridgestone would deliberately do it ..... but I guess in terms of Bridgestone benefiting from Rossi being there then yeah the best things would be Rossi 1st Stoner second ....... but something tells me its not just going to be the Bridgestones that govern how Rossi goes this season.

People already say Stoner only won because of the bike/tires. I'm not sure B-stone will benefit that greatly from having a different name on the championship trophy.

I think it's a bigger risk to help Rossi. If he doesn't like your product it will be broadcast to the far ends of the earth.

Its' my opinion that it will have more to do with the rider, then bike, then tires. (Just like 07)

But here is a silly trolling question: Has Rossi ever lost when he had near the best or best package?

I wonder what some of his fans might think...

Arguably '06 and '07? It's not trolling for a second, but I know some will call it that. Good question but difficult to answer credibly.

no matter what happens this season, bridgestone has gained much just by rossi demanding, & then getting, even tho they said no at 1st, their tires. michelin looks foolish, they've got the most famous road racer in the world on thier hoops and michelins gettin all the bad publicity & they're gettin all the good. it's a win win situation for bridgestone and the sun is shinin bright in 08! even if rossi has problems i seriously doubt, i could be mistaken of course, that he would dare complain.... it would really make him look like an ....

I think he had near best in 2004 but he pulled it off that season.

I think in 2006 he had the best package but the updates he required continued to cause problems. The Yamaha was a fantastic machine in 2005 easily capable of beating the hugely inconsistent Honda. Honda worked out nearly all the kinks at the end of 2005 and I think Rossi and Yam got worried and made changes that were too aggressive.

The 2006 Yam worked great when it wasn't overridden, chattering all over the track from improper suspension set up, or blowing up on short straight tracks where they had it tuned to leap out of the corners.

It's like the end of 2005 scared Yamaha into a plethora of mistakes. They still haven't recovered yet.

Typically as the season progresses, the mannufacturer tends to support the championship leader on their product, especially if a competing rider is close in points. It just makes sense..

If you look at where yamaha was in 2003 that was a bold move by Rossi and one hell of a turn around in 2004.

2005 was a good year after being there for one season everybody was on it and the Yamaha had similar straight line speed as the Honda.

2006 Yamaha lost interest in the project they maybe thought Rossi is too good they were very slack in reliability.

2007 Yamaha are off the pace because of their previous shortcomings.
