From Autosport:

Earlier today, HRC president Masumi Hamane said he would like his riders to use Bridgestone tyres next season: "We haven't finalised our choice of tyres for 2008. We want to follow Dani's choice and he wants Bridgestone. He has pushed very hard for it."

"We want competition in MotoGP and we would like to keep the current situation with our current five teams. Of those five teams, three of them are works teams. We at Bridgestone think that is a good balance," said Bridgestone's Yamada.

There's gonna be a very happy Pedrosa next year

You have to also look at it in that the tyre manufacturer have some might. To say no to the mighty HRC is pretty powerful.

In essence Bridgestone wants Michelin to stay in the series. Michelin threaten to pull out if Repsol HRC or Fiat Yamaha defected.

Thus... the tyre wars are here to stay..

yamaha and honda will change next year after another disappointing year from michelin I bet almost 100%

Michelin have dominated MotoGP, give them one transition season to the new rules which affected them the most. They still have 5 wins.

Michelin should just quit after this season instead of delaying the inevitable.. Why suffer through another season of embarassment?

like jerry burgess said when asked if yamaha should switch to
bridgestone,no,you have to work harder to solve the problems
you have.switching tyres is the easy way out.worked harder thats what bridgestone did since they came to moto gp.now michelin need to up their game.i believe they have already started this.

That is what most would do but surrendering is pretty common trait in that neck of the woods.

Its not about working harder. Its about results.

I am sure the Michelin boys are. Its all about results. Almost everyone has complained about the lack luster level of competition this year. If this trend continues, viewership will drop and Dorna will not be happy. They will be forced to do something -- I hope it does not come them mandating a one tire rule.

I predict Michelin will not be able to compete against Bridgestone again next year. For the simple reason that Bridgestone has improved in leaps an bounds over a few years while Michelin, even with all that historical data on tracks and compounds, is faltering. I don't think they have it in them to rise to the occasion. Does anyone here want to see another lackluster year?

Now, why is Bridgestone not providing tires to the works team next year even though they are giving them for free to the other team? Here is my opinion.. Its much more advantageous for them to crush Michelin on the track than do any advertising. Thats how confident they are.. They want Michelin to be around and theay want to beat them There is no advantage for them to being the only supplier.

Translation: We want to thoroughly embarrass Michelin. How else are people gonna know we are the best if we only trounce on Dunlop?

I wonder if the same advice applies to Dunlop?

Whatever Pedrosa wants the lap dogs of HRC go try and get. Yeah, I'm sure they told Hayden to say the same thing. They were so happy with Michelin last year. Please. They should cut with the ........ and call it Pedrsol Honda Racing Team.

I'm really disappointed by Bridgestone's answer. It is an insult to motogp fans. Do they really expect us to believe they don't want to dominate the sport and increase revenues?! Ridiculous!

They either don't have the ability to supply nearly all the teams in motogp with tires. Or Dorna has threatened both manufacturers with a Dunlop control tire to change the expected returns from a monopoly situation.

Bridgestone, at least tell HRC they can have your race tires for $500M a season. They will certainly decline and then you don't have to come off sounding like pompous Marxists.

"We want competition, it's good for our bottom line! We like to share." Oh my god
<
They love our sport and they want it to be the best it can be.
<
I was born at night, but I wasn't born last night. Even my mother knows competition benefits the consumer not the manufacturer.

------------
They don't want Michelin to hang around.

That might be a legit if Bridestone had swept nearly every round this season and collected nearly every win. They have 9/14 wins and 4 sweeps. Last year Michelin won 12 of 16 rounds and had seven sweeps. 2005 was even more a massacre when Micheline had 14 wins and 12 sweeps. Bridgestone got a two top prospect riders, a Honda team, and the best bike in Motogp for this season, and they'll be lucky to match what Michelin did last season.

Do you think Bridgestone are gambling that Ducati, Suzuki, and Kawasaki can keep Honda and Yamaha from dominating again? Who takes that bet?

There is something going on behind the scenes, and they are trying to champion themselves as friends of the sport. Despicable.
