just joking about the aussi part man
sure he was beaten twice , but at least his loss to edwards was the most epic season ever in my opinion . coming back to win on a one off ride was a real accomplishment. i'd never argue that he was unbeatable on anything he rode as you say. but he's for sure one of the really great riders of the last decade.also i'm not sure toseland did better in gps, bayliss looked real good a couple of times on the desmo. i really believe had he taken the european way of moving up to gps he could have been up there with riders like max, sete etc.
I ken that mate, it's all a bit of a laugh. Especialy when the loudest Aussie on here is half Scottish. (Step forward Barry McSheene) I totally respect Bayliss, and his win on the Desmo was awesome, ok Rossi was on his arse and Nicky was rollin Mr consistancy, but, as I always say, what ifs don't matter, Bayliss took the flag that day.
What I have an issue with is that a lot of fans have this"what if Bayliss was riding? attitude that rewrites history. I agree, he was better in GP than Toseland, but James did beat him to the title, and is hardley revered in these parts. The Edwards season was probably the greatest WSBK ever, and Colin rose so damn hard to the challenge to win. That was some achievement, but did it make Colin a god on a GP bike? No.
The one off win, the superbike titles and the retiral leave some of the more wishful out there thinking he could just come out of retirement and jump on a GP bike at the front. Watching WSBK at the moment, he would be up against it to be at the pointy end there in my opinion.
It's like reading the old interviews where Foggy says he could have beaten Doohan, he never had to prove it, none of the GP teams would touch him.
Besides, you ken me, I do like to stir it up now and again!
Peace brother!
