<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (SuperShinya56 @ Jul 1 2009, 08:08 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}><div class='quotemain'>What's wrong with you? Fisrt you create a thread (Biaggi - reason's to love him or hate him), so if one was to pick either of the 2.... from what you said about him in your first post, one would come to the conclusion that you hate him. You were basically bashing the guy and yet now you backpedalled and say you don't hate him? Is the only reason why NOW you don't hate Biaggi is because Jumkie says he doesn't?

Create a whole thread out of nowhere and bash the poor fellow..... then backpedal and praise him for his charity work, now that's just great.

As for my opinion on Biaggi, I don't like him as a racer. He for sure is talented, but he lacks the mental strength in order to rise to the elite level as a racer. But as you've said, he's done charitable work and go out of his way to please his fans/people, and for that he gets my respect, unlike Rossi who should be doing way more charity work given his stature.....instead the guy's being filed a lawsuit for tax evasion.
Hate and dis like are different. Most here dis like you but we dont hate you. more of an irritation that anything serious

I sure arrab dis likes biaggi forthe valid reasons he gave but would wish him no harm. You normally wish harm on someone you hate. You just picking up on one word and running with it . Where has arrab ever said he "hated" biaggi ?? You yourself say you dis-like him !

It was intended as a bit of fun SS. There's no mention personally, of my hating him on there - although the thread title was perhaps a bit ill chosen. I never categorically stated that I did hate him. I was originally pointing out, in an irreverant way, that he does himself few favours, on reflection, and as Gaz's excellent post pointed out, you realise that this isn't the full story. I mean it's hardly a worthwhile, valid and intelligent critique of a person is it? - being based on such criteria that his yamaha leathers were up his tak, or that he listens to Queen, or sports a silly beard
<

I'm not backpedalling at all. I was reminded of his childhood, and got to thinking about some of the charity work he also does, and about the man himself as opposed to lampooning his very conspicuous shortcomings - which is easy to do. Jumkie and Gaz's posts were thought provoking - why not try and produce one yourself when you're ready?

And I thought I was the fan. You guys know way more than I do, not that I ever bothered to search. I went to check his racing results just for fun and find myself more impressed than ever.

500cc
1998 -> rookie year, finished 2nd behind Doohan on a Honda
1999 -> 4th on a Yamaha
2000 -> 3rd on a Yamaha
2001 -> 2nd on a Yamaha

990cc
2002 -> 2nd on a Yamaha
2003 -> 3rd on a Honda
2004 -> 3rd on a Honda despite bad crash at Estoril ruining his season
2005 -> 5th on a Honda

Look at that record, he's been top 3 in 6 out of 8 tries. If we took Rossi out of the equation he would've been a 2-time WC, maybe more if it weren't for the number of times he crashed out fighting with Rossi for the lead. This guy deserves to remain in motogp more than half the riders in the current grid.

No doubt about it - Max is an exceptional rider. The question is - is there space on the grid for two italian wcs?

Max is really good. Sete is really good. Casey is really good. Dani is really good. They deserve to be WC many times. But unfortunately Rossi is always there.

I think its a shame Max couldn't hang on long enough to get on the 800's

I agree. I think his style would have been quite well on the 800. I also think that he would be just another Dani Pedrosa. Mentally he can't put a champioship season together.

Nah, unlike Dani, Max actually exhibits some personality. Even if you don't particularly like it, it does add some flavor. Dani's just got that boring thing going on and the baggage of Puig.

If nothing else, Max plays well as a villain. Dani had that for a bit from pulling the bonehead move on Hayden and related shenanigans, but unless you're an achondroplasiaphobiac there's just less and less reason to really hate on Dani these days, other than Puig.

rog he should of won in 98 buuuuut he didn't. he has what it takes but his biggest problem is his inabillity to ride around problems. he has also had a falling problem in the past when he is pressured from behind.

Nah, it was a good season with lots of podiums but he was still never gong to get near rossis points. I mean yeah he was seriously a contender upto germany half way through the season but the second half it never was going to be.

Thank you for making my point.

Also, as Rog pointed out, he can't win on the big boy bikes.

But the 800's aren't really considered bigboy bikes by many are they?

They are physically smaller and require a smaller rider to suit (so discussions and observations would indicate) so I would suspect that he could well do better on the 800 than he did on the 990 (which I think was quite reasonable), but his time is past anyway.

IMO, it would have indeed been interesting.

well the 800 is more of a big boys bike compared to a 125 or 250 but nowhere near as bigger boys bike compared to a 990 or a 2 stroke 500
