Bayliss - Want's to race

Spies would whip him like a 7 year old at Wal Mart on a Superbike
<

but he would have to wait until 2012...and Bayliss might win it in 2011 and then leave. He should be able to get 8 wins and 16 more podiums to pass Foggy and grab one more title to become the most successful WSBK rider. Most wins, Most titles, most podiums......in fewer races and on 3 different bikes 998/999/1098. Of couse I think he is already at that level now!!!.....

Bayliss 152 races, 26 poles, 94 podiums 62%, 52 wins 34%, 3 titles in 6 complete seasons 50%

Fogerty 220 races , 21 ploes, 109 podiums 50%, 59 wins 27%, 4 titles in 9 complete seasons 44%

The Bayliss Comeback: It's Over

Reportedly, former World Superbike champion Troy Bayliss has suddenly decided to remain retired, he told the press at World Ducati Weekend.

Bayliss had second thoughts about any kind of a comeback after testing the Xerox Ducati at Misano.

maybe he is just saying that to get Ducati to leave him alone, and then he goes and rides the M1

I doubt it, it would be challenging enough for to fight for top5 in WSB after 1,5 years absence, he would not risk his reputation with a bike (800) he has never ridden before...even if it is a proved championshipwinner.

Two things could have happened:

1.He was too slow compared to Haga and Fabrizio by the end of this test (this was a direct comparison, not like Mugello) and thinks he can not compete with them, not to mention Haslam or Biaggi at the moment.

2.The wife simply pulled the handbrake.

In my opinion both are correct more or less. When he tested in Mugello, Ducati announced the times immediately each day and now after day 1 (when Bayliss was already quite behind) I could not see any more times, so I am quite sure he was "defeated", which is no wonder...after 1,5 years nobody is able to continue at the very top immediately. I would love to see Troy´s coming back but maybe this is the right decision now. He should not have retired so early, the battles with Spies would have been classic. I am quite sure he would have been a tougher opponent (on the Duc), than Nori.

But the other thing that makes me sad a little, that the Race of champions got never materialized between him and Rossi. It should have been done at that time, when both were at their best.

Well it appears the Misses may have put her foot down, that or the bike really sucks!

The way he explained it in the press conference (which I was NOT at), was that he spent all day Friday chasing his tail in setup, and was reminded of how when things suck, they really, really suck. And had had enough of that to prevent him from racing. He's done. Shame.

Now I see somewhere else that on the last day of the test he was on the pace with the factory boys, but times were not reported. This is not round for me...I still suspect that he was not fast enough compared to the Xerox-boys. Otherwise after all this messing he would be over the top to get a wild card at least.

And I don't buy the official announcement at all. Something else must be behind his backing out, not a sole unfortunate day.

I know probably this is the right way, but I was so thrilled about his coming back.

So Mr. Troy Bayliss, I have to apologize cause I was wrong about you, you're still freaking fast!

Although there is a question then circulating in my mind:

Why not?

Why not?

Why not?

Seriously, this does not seem right. I demand you back on track!!!!

Thanks for the compliment, that black-green '10 6R is cool, I have a plain black and I definitely need some...you know, green on it.

Troy Bayliss

“The testing’s gone really well and with more time on track today the times improved quite a bit this morning. I’m happy with how it all went and hope my feedback can help Nori and Michel, but I’m also tired because we’ve had a lot to do during this edition of WDW, both on and off track! As I said during Saturday’s WDW press conference, I have made up my mind and I won’t be coming back to the racing but I will undertake one more Superbike test later this year, just before the Imola SBK round, as agreed with Ducati at the start of the season.”

If he struggled for some time he may have come to the conclusion that the support structure no longer exists for him at ducati; if I recall he insisted on using his wsbk crew for his one-off motogp win. Tardozzi is obviously gone, and I also imagine his crew would be difficult to re-assemble. If as some contend rossi would not continue without burgess et al, the same applies even more so to bayliss who is not 31 anymore.
