Ive not bothered with this forum for about a month mainly because of this thread and the fact that many other interesting threads get turned into slanging matches because its easier to throw .... than it is to debate in an intelligent manner,i thought we were talking about bikes?.

A few years back, there was a threat that turned similarly sour. It resulted in a few members, myself included taking a wee break from the place, while keeping dialogue open with Ben, and other forum members away from the public eye,
It got sorted out, common sense prevailed, we came back and gave each other that bit more respect,
Ive made some bloody good friends on here, we've had some awesome meets, and looking forward to more good times. Lets just mind that and move along, there's nothing to see here.

Out of Nowhere
For every incidence of genuine animosity and acrimony on here there are a hundred lifelong friendships forged. Many say erroneously - 'it's just a forum' - but in actual fact not only is it a microcosm of life, it's a very powerful tool. It's our playground too - a veritable bike racing paradise - and like every medium can be used positively or negatively. I am reminded of Goldings 'Lord of The Flies' the way it has descended into chaos.
For my part I created this thread to lampoon Barry and perhaps to channel negativity against him. Barry I genuinely apologise for that and if I have caused you personal offence then I am sorry - I somehow suspect you are thicker skinned and made of sterner stuff than that, who knows? I genuinely would have liked to have hosted you in the UK, and I wish you had responded more graciously but perhaps in view of the provocative posts on this thread perhaps your reaction is understandable. I spawned this monster which raged out of control and yeah, I think it should be slain.
Saying that I have never believed in censorship and similarly don't believe in locking threads or blocking other members with an ignore button other than in cases of extreme distaste which may warrant deletion and a ban. The freedom of speech generally allows the unnecessarily outspoken or the ignorant to hang themselves but in the bid to secure the moral high ground we have become a kangaroo court (no intentional pun aimed at my Aussie friends by the way
Finally - if this thread does get locked can we somehow keep the link that Geo posted? only it's taken two years to get that and I love it when I'm proved right
For the record I would just like to point out that no animals were harmed in the making of this thread

Apart from this thread, there are a number of times he has let his spleen vent on people and because he's "Rog" it is tolerated.
.... him - learn some restraint and some debating skills if you want to match wits.
For someone with such a tough mouth, he has the thinnest skin I have ever experienced. In his own words: "you throw a rock, I will throw a boulder" - but apparently that doesn't extend to anyone else.

He has personal relationships with many on the forum, and has also revealed more of himself than many and posted pictures of himself and his family where others including me remain anonymous. You probably have never seen the pictures being new and did not make your comment in the context of knowing what he and his family actually look like, but can perhaps understand how he might have taken your comment, and that comments regarding family offend most people, thin-skinned or not; they aren't actually fat and ugly btw, and he himself is extremely large with little fat involved.
Anyway, enough of this toxic thread.

Ok, Zoot, its obvious ur gonna continue making a fool of urself and being a complete ..... U ...... up by insulting the man's family, at this point u should have removed, edited, and apologized. U can have a dig at the member all u want, but its not cool to bring in the man's family. Mikes, ever the diplomat has misplaced his kindness, but i think u should know this basics of forum decency. U dont deserve a pass. Most everybody here, friend foe or indifferent understands, without visiting social threads, that this is crossing the line. Are u done now? Why any other decent member here seeing ur post insulting a man's family would now ever want to exchanged with u is seriously beyond me! I wouldnt want to associate with u in real life, no reason i should do it here. But now u had to go coward further and post into the wind by bumping this thread.
