After failing to reach an agreement with Ducati Corse on Sunday evening after the final round of the World Superbike Championship, talks between the Brazilian and the Ten Kate Honda team also failed to produce a deal.

With his current Klaffi Honda team not yet sponsored and solid offers from Kawasaki and Ilmor, it now seems likely that Barros, after a single season and a single win in World Superbike, will be headed back to MotoGP in 2007.

Meanwhile Max Biaggi, after testing the Alstare Corona Extra Suzuki yesterday is in his second day of private testing today at Magny-Cours.

Brilliant! He was one of my favourite riders last year, it'll be brilliant to see him back. Plus his years of experience will make him invaluable to Ilmor.

I'm interested to know what Alex is holding out for, I would have thought he could make more in WSB than Ilmor could afford to pay, and he has made it known that he would very much like to win the WSB title. Turning down a seat on the Ten Kate Honda and the works Ducati with the 1200cc regulations in place for 2008? Makes me think there may be an unforseen Ilmor mega-sponsor waiting in the wings, but there must be a lure of some kind. Garry McCoy is there on strength of his vast experience not because he can bring huge sums of money to the team. Just what is Barros up to?

Maybe he's decided that if Bayliss has signed for two more years, he can't beat him to the title, maybe he's hoping if he has a good season with Ilmor he can work his way back up in MotoGP to a Yamaha, Honda or Ducati.... or maybe, like Rossi a few years ago or like Shinya in Kawasaki, he's hoping to join a team that will in effect be based around him.

goin for the most coin i suspect. gotta pay off his big debt to yamaha.

I thouht that Barros left Motogp, becouse he couldn't cut it any more?

And is this debt you mention, monetary or just in terms of gratitude ???

I think that's all settled now, Repsol had a hand in it but I remember reading about Barros coughing up a fair bit of it himself, but then it could have been in MCN. Anyone know for sure what the outcome was there?

His debt was to Altadis, not Yamaha. Gauloises were pissed that he jumped ship mid contract, I don't think Yamaha minded. It was a straight trade in their eyes, Barros for Rossi.

Ooostin i think ur right. it might be altadis. but i think yamaha jammed him to did'nt they?

So if it's not a debt that Alex is worrying about, why is he holding out on potentially the two best rides in WSB? What is that carrot?

if he's supposed to pay that much, it must mean that they gave it to him before, right? the fines can't be that high for breach of contract, right?

so i guess, if they paid him, and he didn't deleaver, he should pay back

Uh oh, MCN printed it... that means Barros is staying in WSB

Sponsors can be ....... can't they? I mean, I certainly wouldn't complain if the team I sponsored swapped Barros for an attention-hogging winning machine like Rossi...
