I'd totally forgotten he'd ridden on a bimota till yesterday. I was posting about his undoubted talent which he definately had. The world did see glimpses of it bar too often it saw his flaws.
The guy obviously has addictions - be it to speed, alcohol or drugs. I call him talented and a flawed person. You call him a piece of ..... Each to their own.

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (Gaz @ May 17 2008, 01:52 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}><div class='quotemain'>So true Yamaka, yet here we are judging Anthony Gobert who has only been charged, not convicted yet we are labelling him a useless so and so etc.

The only offence that I am aware where Anthony has been convicted is Driving Under the Influence of Alchohol for which he is serving a lengthy suspension. It was through media reports of this offence in Australia that there was confirmation from Anthony and his family of his drug dependence.

And having met Anthony at a number of race meetings I must say that I have not experienced anything but courtesy and respect at all times from him so am not sure from what experience some of the comments arise. That said, knowing a number of people who have far greater experience it is always said that Anthony is and was very opinionated and a hell of a 'party animal'

I agree entirely.

Gobert is indeed a talented, but flawed personality. The same could be said of 'lil John. I was going to say that 'lil John didn't have the drug issue, but when I think back, maybe he did, just didn't get caught.

Talented once..in the past tense, but I'm willing to bet that the best part of a decades dependency on junk has gone quite a long way to erasing that talent for good.

Regarding Kozinski, it all makes sense now. Didn't he pit once during qualifying somewhere complaining of a fish on the circuit?

What you say makes sense in that the talent would have been affected and wained somewhat due to the dependency, but that does not mean that he was not and does not remain talented, just that we will likely never see what he once was again.

Further though, he had a ride in some races last year in the Oz Superbikes on a 'far from developed' ZX10 and was able to produce a few glimpses of what he once had, not consistent though by any means, but you could see it was there. However, those appearances have bought their own controversies within Oz racing circles and I he did not finish the year and from what I know, is not part of the same team this year.

As for Little John, my information would suggest that he was one of many throughout time (and likely continuing) who race in top seres (and therefore club as well) that have issues with substances. Unfortunately for Gobert he was one of the few caught (you could well say stupid enough to place himself in a position to be caught), but he was not alone.
