Ago says Rossi is a "sensitive" rider

So your trying to say rossi had nothing to do with the development of the 06 rc211v and the 2010 M1, oh ok then.
<
As fot ducati, Rome was not built in a day !

Tru nuf.... but if memory serves, it burnt down in a flash.

Sadly thats turned out to be one of the biggest bopper myths of all
<

Myth it may be but as Colin Edwards stated, the reason he felt pretty untouchable at Yamaha after Rossi left was that he was then the only rider capable of developing the bike. Jorge included. Perhaps Yamaha are now more comfortable with the experience JL has gained over the past season and are now happy for him to lead bike development.

All I will say is that we have plenty of experts on the forum, but I take Colin Edwards expertise ahead of you bunch...that said, I LOVE YOU ALL !

Hey - I found a pic of Gumbo & BM at the pub...

Oh do come on! There's good chap!

As though, and as if, I would frequent such an establishment as a "Public House"

What next!!"?? You'd have me supping on a few "brewed ales" no doubt!

No ...... its milk for me, as Jumkie has already both identified and intimated

PS. I'm much more debonaire in a Tux than those two farmboys!

Hey - I found a pic of Gumbo & BM at the pub...

My kids would call that an epic fail as i actually think the portrayel of me is hilarious. Lmfao..

Im a big fan of that movie, so im flattered for the comparison drawn, cheers.

May i suggest you leave that dvd within reach for the next few rounds of motogp as you will need some jokularity to balance the sadness rossi continues to deliver his fans.

Slammed?????

This topic is one well and truly hashed out in multiple threads, Stoner being able to ride around problems and so on.

I actually think Ago is showing signs of dementia bringing it up again for the sqillionth time.

Actually I have hypothesised that Ago is an agent of Merryl Lynch and the CIA and is rehashing things like this so nothing of any value is said on the Wall Street thread.

Instead we temporise, editorialise on the Stoner -v- Rossi argument (which may come as a shock, but it has been done before)

Some arguments go forever, for example I was shocked when I did my Psych degree that there is still a Plato -v- Aristotle argument running. This is before Christ did his cosmic Jewish Zombie Act and saved us from the blight inflicted upon us because the rib woman took an apple from a talking snake.

Plato is ahead thanks to Noam Chomsky but this took thousands of years. The Stoner Rossi thing isn't even formative yet, its barely embryonic.

You my slammed friend will be many of the casualties to suffer a paper cut or bruised ego in this battle.

Fortify yourself, eat a raw egg, Cast a withering stare upon anyone with a #46 t shirt on and stand tall, the battle is young and the brave shall endure.

No, but after his raw egg he should be fine

Im sorry, you lost me at "This topic is" ! Iv always had problems trying to understand confusing asbergers banter.. anyways if you feel you constructed something worthy of praise from the remainding few #46 diehards out there congratulations.

But somethings aint gonna change my friend, that is stoner won on the shitbox, he will continue to win on the honda and any other bike he throws his leg over.

Rossi got touched up last year by casey and lore whilst aboard the best bike, he will continue to struggle on the much improved shitbox leaving the only thing to respond without complaint to his throwing the leg over is uchio....

Stick to warcraft battles as it will be easier on your heart, i myself will be glued to my lounge in anticipation of the 9 time champion to show us his worth... im in disagreeance the battle is done and dusted and anything the great one comes up with now is too little too late in most peoples opinions.

I think you may have misinterpreted andy's post; he is definitely not anti-stoner. Perhaps you should try absinthe.

Masao Furusawa

“I would like to thank Valentino very much, I started in MotoGP in 2003 and it was a terrible year, it was almost like I was in hell! I really wanted to make the YZR-M1 a better bike but the more investigated it, the more I realised I needed something else, more than the bike. So we found Valentino Rossi. First of all I didn’t believe Valentino would come to Yamaha because the bike wasn’t great but somehow it worked. After South Africa in 2004 I felt like I was in heaven, it was a very exciting and memorable year. In 2004 Valentino was the only one who could win on the YZR-M1 so he contributed a lot to developing the bike. This year not only Valentino but also three other riders were fast so it’s clear that our YZR-M1 is a pretty good bike. This is mainly because of Valentino’s contributions over the years so I really appreciate that and I want to wish him all the best in the future.”

Also from Furusawa:

I came up with a pretty good idea - the crossplane crankshaft [utilising 'big bang' technology] - and then right after I joined MotoGP I started a design. Half a year later the first prototype ran on the racetrack near the Yamaha headquarters.

Everybody was looking and the first thing the test rider said was 'this bike feels slow'. So everyone looked at me, thinking 'Hmmm. You are the guy who thought of this...' And then he said 'But the lap time is so fast. It just feels slow because it is very, very smooth and stable.'

That was Christmas time in 2003. Then Valentino Rossi came to Yamaha and rode for the first time here [at Sepang] in January 2004. He is really a genius. He rode the crossplane bike for just five or six laps and then came back and said 'this bike is the best one'. Even though it was slow, because the power was not so much.

ANDY ROO! Hahahahahaha, this post had me ....... rolling dude! Bravo bro, hahaha.

Post of the month!

It's the medication and I'm loving it (from time-to time)

Glad I could be of service.

Wow, interpreted as anti Stoner.

I had to confiscate his gun off him to stop him firing any more shots at me, it was getting kind of dangerous...

There's a great story about Hailwood going to his mechanics after practice and demanding they stiffin the shocks right up on his bike to make it handle the way he wants. The mechanics do as they are told, but when Mike goes off they put the bike back to the previous settings. He promptly goes an wins the race, and comes back saying how the changes he demanded had made the difference..........

I bet that goes on more than we know lol

No and it shows, on both counts ........ I hear the traffic in Rome is like the front end of the Ducati ......
<

Trying to cross the street in Rome is like trying to cross the track (Opening lap) in turn one at a Moto 2 event. Truly hairy.

Remember, in the modern, post Agostini era of racing, Honda has always been a huge winner in the constructor sweepstakes with 14 championships out of 35 - only three of them with Rossi. Yamaha had 11 championships in that time-frame and only two of them with Rossi. So, now who's being selective?

If Rossi was as large a percentage of the success equation as the yellow horde would like us to believe - I think by now we'd be seeing some evidence of that at Ducati.
You need to be fair if you're going to say that, we are constantly seeing evidence going back to atleast 2010 and further that Ducati can't find solutions to get the bike to work properly. The design itself is probably to blame. Until the bike has a radical redesign the problems wont be fixed no matter who is on the bike. The front end issues, and rear pumping go back to Casey's days and I'm sure he wanted those problems fixed just like Rossi does now. With the rest of the grid improving and Duc still dealing with old issues there is no way you can say the bike has been improved. The only reason Duc won their WC was because of Casey, and the Japanese being conservative with fuel. Every year after that Duc has shown their true colors.

If that isn't good enough for you than why is Jlo back on the chassis that was developed in 2010? Do you think Furusawa was just blowing smoke up everyone's, ..... when he said Rossi was a great development rider?

We had this argument from the opposite perspective ie why stoner hadn't developed/fixed the bike and imo the answer is the same; the bike is unfixable with the current design as you say. Whether the problem is the chassis material, chassis (or lack thereof) design or the engine is less clear. I agree with barry that more severe problems arose when they switched to the screamer, perhaps in anticipation of valentino; the big bang theory and the success of that theory at yamaha as detailed earlier in the thread may be part of the problem.

Yeah, I remember I was the bad guy for saying it would be hard to develop a bike around Casey because he is an anomaly and wants that monstrous power and stiffer chassis. I think he could have rode better if they would have fixed the rear pumping that was just supposedly fixed with electronics and not the suspension. It would be interesting to see him back on with the pumping fixed, but then he it might of just delayed what we are seeing now. This might have been what JB was talking about being an 80 sec fix but at the same time the engine was tamed. I will say Casey is not to blame for the Duc's down slide through the years as it's now clear that Ducati should have changed their strategy as the rules changed and the Japanese caught up with them in the engine dept. It's very easy for me to say it in hindsight though.

As far as I know, Lorenzo did change back to 2010 parts a few races into the 2011 season, but exactly what was changed was kept very vague. Is there any news on this?

Regarding your second question: in all honesty, personally I would answer yes. I think Furusawa is on very good terms with Rossi and I often regard such things as cheap talk.

Masao and Rossi have the finest record in the modern era to back up these statements, thus for sideline punters labelling it as cheap talk is much more like very cheap talk for me......

Agree, he has been honest about all yamaha dealings. Jlo is back on the 2010 chassis and furusawa said jlo didn't have the development skills of Rossi but he will get there eventually. This is all out in the open in interviews. It's also out in the open that Rossi threatened to leave last year if they didn't give him a V4. He really screwed himself because the I4 will be fine next year.
