Ago says Rossi is a "sensitive" rider

Not sure if this has been posted "Success in this sport depends on the rider-bike combination, and unfortunately only one rider can win," Agostini said. "Just look at Honda: Despite all of their resources, they haven't won a title for five years.

"But Vale is struggling on a bike that has won in the past. Maybe things will be better with the 1000. He is a sensitive rider, and he needs to have the optimal feeling with the bike to win. Stoner, however, is a more aggressive and raw rider, without any half-measures. At Ducati, he was either fast or he crashed.

"But I don't think Valentino has stopped being a good rider. The rider can only contribute his opinions. Put simply, he needs a perfect bike, but Stoner doesn't. It reminds me a little bit of myself and Mike Hailwood. He was less sensitive to the feeling that the bike wasn't right. When I tried his bike, it felt like a piece of iron to me, but he was able to go fast with it."

Hey iv been saying this for past year on this forum only to get slammed. Rossi needs bike to be perfect in every way before he can shine (this does not make a champion) stoner rides through the pain of an ill handling bike and adapts better than any other rider in motogp ever has....

Thanks Ago !

doesnt make a champion? Havent been watching bike racing long have you?

Not as sensitive as some of his fanboys

Stoner, Hailwood and Schwantz are probably the three best examples of riders I can think of who did'nt need a perfect bike to win. You need to take this information into account to guage the respective performances of these riders when comparing them against their rivals.

When you do this you begin to realise just what extraordinary talents they all are/were.

I think I began comparing Stoner to Hailwood last year, so now hearing Agostini confirming my impression is very gratifying. Ago raced against Hailwood for years, and he knows what he's talking about. Like Stoner, Hailwood was able not only to ride, but to override any bike. Is this a quality that makes a champion greater than another? Surely it makes them unique, and that in a way puts them above the others.

Hailwood did the reverse of Stoner -- he switched from the finely tuned MV to the powerful but almost unrideable Honda 500. He won many races on it, but never won another premier class title against Ago and the MV. Still, he was perceived by many as the strongest rider...

On another forum someone construed this as a negative comment regarding rossi by ago. I don't think this at all, he is basically saying stoner is hailwood to rossi's agostini, and while this is very high praise for stoner I think there is a chance ago thinks he was better than mike the bike

I stand corrected, unlike many posters to forums who sit in front of pc all day and have plenty of time to construct well structured researched replies i have a life and do mine from my phone on the fly so i take the word champion back and replace it with "great rider" !

Slammed?????

This topic is one well and truly hashed out in multiple threads, Stoner being able to ride around problems and so on.

I actually think Ago is showing signs of dementia bringing it up again for the sqillionth time.

Actually I have hypothesised that Ago is an agent of Merryl Lynch and the CIA and is rehashing things like this so nothing of any value is said on the Wall Street thread.

Instead we temporise, editorialise on the Stoner -v- Rossi argument (which may come as a shock, but it has been done before)

Some arguments go forever, for example I was shocked when I did my Psych degree that there is still a Plato -v- Aristotle argument running. This is before Christ did his cosmic Jewish Zombie Act and saved us from the blight inflicted upon us because the rib woman took an apple from a talking snake.

Plato is ahead thanks to Noam Chomsky but this took thousands of years. The Stoner Rossi thing isn't even formative yet, its barely embryonic.

You my slammed friend will be many of the casualties to suffer a paper cut or bruised ego in this battle.

Fortify yourself, eat a raw egg, Cast a withering stare upon anyone with a #46 t shirt on and stand tall, the battle is young and the brave shall endure.

No, but after his raw egg he should be fine

Which two? If you are calling me an ..... I would like the opportunity to load up on endone and reply.

Naw, you're cool man. That was directed at Gumby and BM. And I was wasted and frustrated by the obtuseness of those two in this thread. Kinda feel bad. They were just doing what they do, I shouldn't rise to the bait.
